All About Steve: It's a chick comedy. Plain and simple. Some funny jokes, but nothing too special. Don't go out of your way to go see it, unless you are forced to like I was. It can still be enjoyable, but there are much better movies out to see.

Bandslam- a film about a loner who goes to a new school, where he manages a high school band where he makes new friends. Starring Gaelan Connell, Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical 3: Senior Year), and Alyson Michalka. Its a decent family film, that will serve to kill time. Only reason I checked it out, was because I think Hudgens is a cutie. Nothing very memorable, and not the strongest of development in the plot. If you want to stick with band themed movies its better to check out School of Rock or The Rocker, rather than this film. Overall, a decent film but completely forgettable.

Zombieland-Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson star as two zombie killers going cross county for a non zombie place to visit. This movie was absolutely awesome. Movie of the year in terms of action and comedy. This is Ruben Fleischer’s third film, but you couldn’t tell it. The movie is directed with a certain flair that few directors could have done well. It’s hard to create a great zombie movie. There are literally hundreds of movie in the zombie genre, a couple great, some good, and some crap. Fleischer, and the writers therefore made a movie not so much about zombies where the zombies are the show, but the zombie killer themselves and how they deal with their situations.

Jesse Eisenberg plays the nerd who provides narration for the bulk of the movie. This guy is a riot. He’s got a whole list of do's and don’ts about fighting zombies and staying alive. They seem idiotic at first but are pretty much a standard to follow. Nobody in this movie has an actual name aside from Bill Murray in a hilarious cameo appearance!!! Fleischer makes the characters interesting by having the characters deal with zombies and probably being the last people alive on earth in their own different way. Emma Stone as Wichita is the hot babe along with her sister do con jobs before the whole zombie scare. Harrelson is the funniest dude in the movie taking a page out of the Bruce Campbell handbook by providing a larger than life zombie killer full of profanity, humor, and intensity. Not to mention his constant obsession over finding the last twinky on Earth priceless. There’s plenty of gore and violence obviously for a movie titled Zombieland. My funniest lines have to be “Thank God for rednecks”, and “time to nut up or shut up” to name a few. 10/10

Love Happens- a film about a widower, who falls in love with a girl who helps him realize that he is still lingering on the death of his wife. Starring Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight), Jennifer Aniston (He's Just Not That Into You), and Marin Sheen (The Departed). Nice to see Harvey Dent in a film again. Overall this film is a pretty good romantic, witty comedy type film. It's a perfect date movie, as could be expected just from the title of the film itself. Probably not one of the most memorable films of the year, but definitely something that romantic film lovers would want to see.

Capitalism: A Love Story

New Documentary by Michael Moore. Much like all of his films it's very insightful, and provides a very interesting look into how "corrupt" Capitalism can be. You don't have to agree with Moore but the overall message comes across nicely and has some very hilarious moments. Much like his previous Documentaries (Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11, Sicko etc.) it pushes the limits and asks the questions nobody seems to ask like Moore does. Seeing a Republican watch this movie would be amazing!

Zombieland- a film about four people who try to survive in America now overrun by zombies. Starring Woody Harrelson (Seven Pounds), Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland), Emma Stone (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past), and Abigail Breslin (My Sister's Keeper). Its a comedy film, kind of like Shaun of the Dead. Very well crafted, and thoroughly entertaining. The zombie surviving rules are awesome, Harrelson is just such a badass. Another great plus of the film is the incredible hotness of Emma Stone. It's pretty violent with blood and guts everywhere, but damn this film is an experience. Also enjoyed the great cameo by Bill Murray. First film to receive a high rating from me, since Inglourious Basterds.

District 9 is an enjoyable, sci-fi action movie about aliens on planet Earth. Typically these humans vs. aliens movies are the majority through the aliens being the bad guys. However, this movie is opposite of that. Humans are the bad guys and their target are aliens. Aliens land on earth malnourished and near death. They are "rescued" by humans but eventually displaced in Johannesburg, Africa. Essentially living as prisoners, refugees (whatever you want to call it). They are held in District 9. However, strong resentment of the aliens leads the public to once again call for the aliens to go elsewhere.

The aliens are evicted by their homes by MNU agent Wikus Van De Merwe (Sharlto Copley). Then Wikus is the victim of an alien fluid which transforms him into one of the aliens he realizes he must help them out as they are the only chance he has to be human.

District 9 strikes a lot of home runs for its original plot (at least at the beginning of the movie), the great acting, comedy, and ideas it presents on the screen. The movie, however, by the second half after presenting so many complex issues decides to follow the direction of so many alien movies before it turning into one giant shoot em contest with blood and guts with nothing thought provoking left. This prevents it from being film of the year but it's an awfully good entertaining movie nevertheless.

Paranormal Activity
I'm not going to give anything away on this. You need to go in seeing it without knowing a thing about, other than it was realistic horror. The movie was low budget, and seen through a video camera. It will remind you slightly of The Blair Witch Project. I don't get freaked out too easy, but I will be sleeping with the lights on. Any noise will sure make me jump.

9/10 Best horror movie I've seen in awhile. It's too real.

Damage

Rather entertaining movie with not just fighting, fighting and more fighting like we're used from the likes of Steven Seagal. It had a good storyline, but I do feel like they didn't make enough use of it. The acting was decent, it wasn't hard to gain sympathy for the main characters and you really wanted Austin to win. Another positive was Laura Vandervoort, she looked stunning.

7/10.

Death Proof
Decent and enjoyable at times, but boring at others. At times the classic Tarantino dialogue is great and at other times they just seem to drag it out, and it makes the film so slow. Also there's too few actions scenes, but when they do appear, they're exciting.
