Yeah, I agree with you that I can't believe they got away with that. But it's still funny as fuck and it's worth it.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Last movie in theatres I saw was Transformers 2. Great battle scenes and I like the idea of the Autobots working with the military but everything else was horrible. Bad acting from all particularly John Turturro (it's telling of how terrible Bay is when you have an actor as great as Turturro and turn him into a hack). The twin autobots just came across as so stupid and offensive to me and then Jetfire being an old robot who farts parachutes was just dumb. And Megan Fox is in a class of bad all herself.

2/10 primarily because there was a lot of potential for greatness but Michael Bay royally screwed it up.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

My father told me to watch this movie and explain it to him. Since I was doing nothing anyway, I gave it a shot. The name of the movie was '1408'. John Cusack plays a ghost writer, who doesn't actually believe in ghosts or god or heaven or anything in particular. Samuel Jackson is the manager of this hotel called the Dolphin.

The room 1408 is said to be a very evil room and unavailable to guests but the writer belittles his way in. Lots of stuff happens. The movie is taken decently, the sequences and the horror (mebe you could call it that) were taken well but it isn't actually horror genre.

In that essence, it's only half a story here. The room is indeed paranormal, which is proven in the movie but its working is not explained, which is my main strife with a lot of movies trying to work the dynamics of a different world. Not bad to sit through if you've got nothing else to watch. Lack of complete explanation bothers me.

2.5/10

Couldn't really explain because the movie never explains. Open to interpretation but there's not even the basework provided for it.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Pixar's UP is so far my favourite movie of 2009.

It's about an old man named Carl Fredricksen who decides to use a gazillion balloons to uproot his home and fly to a waterfall in South America where his late wife always wanted to go. Along the way young boy scout, Russell gets stuck with him. Throw in a plot involving a legendary explorer and his pack of talking dogs and a mysterious bird and you have a very fun, uplifting and emotional story.

Really recommend seeing it in digital 3-D

RockN'Rolla
the story takes place in london where an underhanded business man(lenny) and a russian multi-millionaire(yuri) are supposed to conclude a deal, and as a token of trust yuri insists to lend Lenny his lucky painting. with the help of the russian's accountant the wild bunch(5 small time criminals) are able to steal a sum of 14 million euros and Lenny loses yuri's lucky painting which ends up in the possession of lenny's stepson(johnny quid) a junkie and a former rockstar.the movie continues to escalate with a gay crush,2 russian mercs and a chance of a possible sequel.
it's worth watching if you are looking for crime movie

V for Vendatta - It's impossible to give a proper mini review of this complex story. It can simply be summerised as 'A Masterpiece'. It's just such a powerful film, so cleverly written, a true gem.

I never got into V for Vendetta to be honest. Maybe it's because my brother just threw it on the TV and I just decided to watch it without any previous intentions. Though I must admit that I'm a fan of Graphic Novel turned Movies now after watching Watchmen and learning so much about Alan Moore and his workings. I should really re-watch V4V again.

good luck

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

the machinist
the thriller is impressive in some aspects, the story goes around trevor reznik an insomniac machinist who accidently costs one of his co-workers(miller) his arm from this point he feels that something or someone is conspiring against himself and starts accusing everybody including miller, other co-workers and stevie(a prostitue with whom he had an affair).
in the end he finds out that he himself was the one causing all the troubles due to guilt problems.
the movie is pretty good but you kinda expect what's coming next

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Watchmen- not gonna summarize plot or list characters, as this is a rewatch. I bought the DVD and watched the Directors Cut copy. It clocks in at just a little over 3 hours, but damn I loved it. Rorschach is such an amazing vigilante, and is my favorite "superhero" in the comic book universe. I feel this was a worthy purchase, as I will watch this film again and again.

10/10
