Death Race
In the future, the prison system is drastically overcrowded and the US's economy has gone to hell. A prison warden, Warden Hennessey (Joan Allen) has created a phenomenon known as Death Race, where prisoners race suped up cars in a battle to the death, the catch is that the man that wins 5 races gets set free. Jensen Ames (Jason Statham), is a factory worker, with a wife and child. One night, his wife is murdered and Ames is accused of the act. He is sent to the prison by the request of Warden Hennessey, who gives him a propsition. The most popular driver, Frankenstein, died during his last race, and Warden Hennessey wants Ames to assume the identity of Frankenstein. She also tells Ames all he has to do is win one race and he is free to go. This is a propisition Ames cannot pass up, and now he must battle dangerous obstacles as well as dangerous drivers, in an attempt to get set free and find clues to his wifes murder.
This is your usually Jason Statham movie, with lots of action sequences and big explosions. The movie has some pretty interesting characters, and an overall decent story. Dont expect perfect acting, however, but as a popcorn flick this is a good choice.

Rating - 7.5/10

Tuesdays Movies

The Lost Boys - *** (7/10)
- 1987 cult classic starring Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, and Kiefer Sutherland. After a move two brothers found some trouble while scouting out the local pier where all the kids their age are hanging out, and discover a group of trouble-making vampires. This is directed by Joel Schumacher, who loves the cheese, and that is definitely here. It is loopy, and very cheesy, but it is also very entertaining, and Kiefer Sutherland is more badass in this than in 24. Yes, this is true. Just a really fun movie, i guess it gets its cult acclaim due to the "total hotties" it has in it, because its not really classic-worthy.

Dr. Strangelove - ***1/2 (8/10)
- 1964 satire starring Petter Sellars and George C. Scott, directed by Stanley Kubrick. After a general sends his troops off to attack the army of Russia, the President must converse with the Russian powers to try and overcome the debacle. This is an absolutely crazy movie, that has some very great satirical points. It shows just how crazy and yet serious war can be, and how much of a pissing contest such important men can really get involved in. It has some great performances in here, with Sellars playing three of the characters, and George C. Scott as the General is absolutely hilarious. Not making it as one of my favorite Kubricks, but a lot of people consider it his best.

Hollywoodland

This is a movie based on the true story surrounding the mysterious death of Superman actor George Reeves. It stars Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Adrien Brody and Bob Hoskins.

I absolutely loved this movie. I've been fascinated with this mystery for a long time. The movie was beautifully shot and well directed. The film was also well acted with Affleck giving the best performance I've seen from him. Adrien Brody does very well as the main detective in the movie and Diane Lane was spot on. I would have liked to have seen more of Bob Hoskins though.

I really liked Hollywoodland as well. I loved how it was a Hollywood movie based on the death of a Hollywood actor, kind of circling in. I usually end up liking all of Adrien Brody's films.

Rockhead, Brody is absolutely awesome. Any movies from him you or Rawlin *or anyone else* can recommend?

I can't believe I waited so long to watch that movie. It was absolutely a wonderful movie from all aspects.

The scene where George Reeves is sitting on the bed with the gun in his hand while Brody's character is in the doorway watching, sent chills through my spine. Especially when Reeves turns his head to look at the doorway as if he can actually see Brody. Amazing acting and such a creepy shot. It's my favorite scene in the movie.

The Pianist is probably Brody's best film. The Jacket is also a very good film from him.

out of Brodys movies ive seen, here are my ratings for his work.

King Kong - **** (10/10)
The Pianist - **** (9/10)
Hollywoodland - ***1/2 (8/10)
Darjeeling Limited - ***1/2 (8/10)
The Jacket - **1/2 (6/10)
The Village - ** (5/10)

and hell be in a movie with Mark Ruffalo called The Brothers Bloom in May that people said was terrific in its festival run. Im really hurting as far as his 90's work, i havent seen any of it, so i cant really give my opinion on it, but im sure a lot of that is pretty solid as well.

Notorious - I expected more time to be put into this movie and a lot more focus point on his childhood and career. The actors were all nothing to brag over beside Biggie. He played his part with excellence. 7/10

Bruce Almighty

[i]God gets lazy and gives Jim Carrey all of his powers[i]

The second best Jim Carrey Comedy ever (behind 'Yes Man'). The outtakes and special features are better than the movie though...

8.6/10

Man On The Moon

Andy Fuckin' Kaufman...need I say more?

Carrey was DEAD ON as Andy Kaufman and made this movie alot more believable. I was almost crying at the end btw, I think I'm the only one...Only downfall, Devito as Shapiro? He should have just been in the Taxi Recreation ....

8.4/10

Max Payne

A Mentally unstable cop is trying to find out who kills his wife.

It's good if you've played the game. But the story was still to farfetched I think to be loved by any other fans

6.9/10

The Big Tease

A gay hairstylist goes to LA from Scotland to win a contest

One of my favorite Comedies ever. You have to see this, this is one of Craig Ferguson's earlier works, and one of his best I believe, plus with his Sean Connery impreession, David Hassolholf, and Drew Carey having a small role in it. Makes it better

9.4/10

The Dark Knight

A guy in a cape beats up a clown and a acid-prone attorney

What can I say about this movie? It was great, but I only wish Two-Face got JUST a little more time IMO.

9.7/10
