Tropic thunder

Story- A bunch of actors set out ot make a war movie and one of them actually get captured and held hostage.

Acting- Robert Downey Jr and the veitnam leader where pretty damn good.

Overall- the beginning and ending where fucking Hilarious, it's not as funny during the middle but is still well worth a watch. 8.75/10

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

Story about a man who ages backwards.

Firstly let me say I don't hate long movies but this one at close to 3 hours is way too long to keep you interested. It seriously moves at a snails pace and I can't say I wasn't bored a lot of the time. Brad Pitt does an excellent job in this role and the makeup effects are outstanding but I don't think they did enough to make you care about his plight. The only reason to keep watching was too see how much younger Benjamin would get in the next scene. It's a very interesting idea and acting wise it's great but I just didn't like it as much as I thought I would.

6.5/10

im seeing the Spirit today, although im not excited for its trite bullshit and Samuel L. Jacksons camp acting. but oh well!

Wednesdays Movies

Wedding Daze - ** (5/10)
- 2008 comedy starring Jason Biggs and Isla Fischer. Basically two strangers end up marrying each other because of different circumstances in their life. It is one of the most ridiculous and outrageous plots i have ever heard, and is so impractical on every level, and that really is too bad. Michael Ian Black brings the jokes directing this one, and the cast has a good charm. It just is too much of a stretch. It got a January 15 DVD release, no theater, which is too bad, because it was still more entertaining than a large amount of theater movies.

Valkyrie - **1/2 (6/10)
- 2008 thriller starring Tom Cruise as the Colonel Von Stauffenberg who attempted to assassinate Hitler. First of all, its really hard to take a movie seriously when it is about Germans who are in Germany wearing German outfits RUNNING AROUND SPEAKING FUCKING ENGLISH. But i expected that, because Singer is a director who prefers style over substance. There are some other glaring issues with this movie, mainly its lack of suspense. It makes for an enjoyable romp at the movies, and a fun time watching Cruise don the eyepatch, but anything more like a good movie cant be found.

The Spirit- a film about a detective known as The Spirit, and his quest to stop a criminal by the name of The Octopus, and his efforts to retrieve a treasure chest. Starring Gabriel Macht (Because I Said So), Samuel L. Jackson (Soul Men), and Eva Mendes (The Women). While this film looks great visually, its not as entertaining as it could have been. Cheesy lines and pointless moments fill this film. The girls are nice to look at, but a lot of them serve little purpose. Frank Miller could have done a much better job with this film, but I guess its still decent. Nothing to go out of your way and see.

Thursdays Movies

Superman Doomsday - *** (7/10)
- 2007 animation flick featuring one of the most acclaimed stories of the Superman comics. He has his epic battle with Doomsday, who kills him, and the world might possibly have to find a new hero. Overall it does a decent job for an animation movie, the first fifteen minutes with Doomsday are EPIC, and the rest of the movie carries well with quick pacing and good action. Overall though, they make it more of a minor story than it should be. This could have been much longer, even put into a couple of different versions because there is so much missing here. Still, very fun to watch.

The Spirit - ** (4/10)
- 2008 comic-based film on the hero The Spirit, who is a cop come back from the dead to keep his city streets safe. The film is a mess. However, not too much of a surprise. Frank Miller isnt a director. He just isnt. He was simply put on the credits of Sin City because Rodriguez worked so closely with him on the storyboard, but this guy just doesn't direct, and he obviously didnt pick up any great tips from Rodriguez. The film doesnt look like Sin City either, so people should stop saying that. Colors are there, its all just shadowed and bleaker looking, like looking through a cloudy lens. Think a large part of Max Payne, because apparently it always snows here too. Its practically a spoof movie, with lame slapstick comedy and a whole bunch of pretty women oogling over The Spirit. Nazi suits, kimonos, big puffy white jackets, red ties, and Eva Mendes' "perfect ass" couldn't save this dreck.

Reincarnation [re-watch] - ***1/2 (8/10)
- 2005 asian horror film that was part of the 8 Films to Die For Horrorfest in 2005. Quite possibly my favorite of the Horrorfest, of any of them for that matter, a filmmaker and his cast and crew plan on doing a movie about the victims of a tragedy in a hotel where a man committed seemingly senseless acts of murder. The story is NUTS, taking about twenty different directions, until you get to a very nice resolution. Not a lot of jump-at-you shock moments, but this one is more about the overall effects. Oh, and major props to creating a very, very creepy doll.

Haha, I guess The Spirit is pretty bad.

I'm probably going to see Seven Pounds or Marley and Me tomorrow.
I hope It's as good as Yes Man/Bedtime Stories which have started a role on pretty-good movies.

The Spirit

Not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination but one of the most fun movies I've seen in the last six months. I was entertained from beginning to end.

7 out of 10 as a film, 9.5 out of 10 as a guilty pleasure

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Absolutely loved the movie. It's long but the time flew by for me. I can't recommend this movie highly enough.

9 out of 10

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
Incredibly far fetched and downright stupid at points but throughly fun and entertaining. Worth watching if you take it in a lighthearted manner. 6/10.

The Machinist (2004)
Christian Bale's transformation and commitment to the role is incredible and shows true dedication. The film's is very throught provoking but the plot twist seemed predictible with the amount of clues given. 8/10

Iron Man (2008)

one of the best superhero films. Action packed fun that doesn't take itself to seriously. A brilliant film altogether but with a somewhat weak main villian. 8/10
