Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw
Superman Doomsday - *** (7/10)
- 2007 animation flick featuring one of the most acclaimed stories of the Superman comics. He has his epic battle with Doomsday, who kills him, and the world might possibly have to find a new hero. Overall it does a decent job for an animation movie, the first fifteen minutes with Doomsday are EPIC, and the rest of the movie carries well with quick pacing and good action. Overall though, they make it more of a minor story than it should be. This could have been much longer, even put into a couple of different versions because there is so much missing here. Still, very fun to watch.
The Spirit - ** (4/10)
- 2008 comic-based film on the hero The Spirit, who is a cop come back from the dead to keep his city streets safe. The film is a mess. However, not too much of a surprise. Frank Miller isnt a director. He just isnt. He was simply put on the credits of Sin City because Rodriguez worked so closely with him on the storyboard, but this guy just doesn't direct, and he obviously didnt pick up any great tips from Rodriguez. The film doesnt look like Sin City either, so people should stop saying that. Colors are there, its all just shadowed and bleaker looking, like looking through a cloudy lens. Think a large part of Max Payne, because apparently it always snows here too. Its practically a spoof movie, with lame slapstick comedy and a whole bunch of pretty women oogling over The Spirit. Nazi suits, kimonos, big puffy white jackets, red ties, and Eva Mendes' "perfect ass" couldn't save this dreck.
Reincarnation [re-watch] - ***1/2 (8/10)
- 2005 asian horror film that was part of the 8 Films to Die For Horrorfest in 2005. Quite possibly my favorite of the Horrorfest, of any of them for that matter, a filmmaker and his cast and crew plan on doing a movie about the victims of a tragedy in a hotel where a man committed seemingly senseless acts of murder. The story is NUTS, taking about twenty different directions, until you get to a very nice resolution. Not a lot of jump-at-you shock moments, but this one is more about the overall effects. Oh, and major props to creating a very, very creepy doll.
cool and smooth, that's how i play.
