Beverly Hills Cop III -

Great movie. Eddie Murphy was god on acting in this film. I liked the scenes and this movie makes me laugh in some bits and the action was brilliantly done in this movie.

8/10!

Frost/Nixon- 8/10, quality performances, interesting premise, probably my favorite Ron Howard movie. If you're a TNA fan or something I wouldnt see it, there arent any flips in it, its more about the subtle "war" between the 2 guys in their interview process.

Tropic Thunder- 7/10, pretty funny, I assume most have seen this by now. I was expecting to not find Downey's character funny after all the quoting I;ve heard but he had some hilarious lines, the highlight of the movie. Tom Cruise though... I like him and all, and gratuitous use of "fuck" can be funny, but it just didnt work for me here. Jack Black was also very unnecessary. Decent flick though.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Story- a high profile TV actress breaks up with her boyfriend, so the boyfriend goes to hawaii to get away from it all, and his ex ends up at hte same hotel with her new boyfriend.

Acting- Every one of the actors was pretty good. Except for Jonah hill could have been funnier.

Overall- this movie is pretty funny ,especially the tv show clips. It's also got a lot of heart and makes you feel bad for just about all of the main charectors at some point during the movie. You can even sympathize with Sarah during the movie. 9/10

X men 3
Story- a little kid hasthe power to cure all mutants of their powers. Magneto wants to stop this so he teamed up with the reborn jean grey , who after the events of X2 is now the most powerfull mutant that is known.

Acting- it was alright.

overall- the worst x-men movie, but still a good. The acting scene's are great. 7.5/10

Fridays Movies

Doubt - **** (9/10)
- 2008 drama starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. A powerful story with even more powerful performances. This is THE best cast ensemble of the year. It is a titanic clash of the titans, packed with emotional backstory from the likes of Amy Adams and Viola Davis. Very thought-provoking, and resonant in todays world despite the 1964 tag.

Death to Smoochy - *** (7/10)
- 2002 comedy starring Edward Norton and Robin Williams. The movie is pretty hit-or-miss, some of the segments playing off well and others just awkward. Overall, its a pretty effective, taking almost a nice spin off the usual gangster movies. Norton and Williams show how performances can take an average movie and make it good.

Memoirs of a Geisha- a film about Chiyo Sakamoto and her life becoming a Geisha. Starring Zhang Ziyi
Ken Watanabe, and Gong Li. A pretty well told story. I never read the book so I have no idea if the movie lived up to the expectations of the book. I found it interesting anyway. Probably could have been condensed in length, but still a good film nonetheless.

Revolutionary Road (2008)

On the surface the Wheelers are a normal suburban family but underneath the facade lies dysfunction.

Well first off let me say Dicaprio is fantastic in this as is Winslet but I found this film to be just a downer. The dialogues sometimes feel really artificial and you can't really muster any kind of sympathy for either character. (More so for Kate's character than Leo's) The Wheelers have children but they're on screen for a few minutes if that, it's like they don't even exist. The whole film is basically Dicaprio and Winslet screaming and bickering back and forth at each other. Some memorable scenes (Especially with Michael Shannon) and featuring great acting but I just couldn't really get into it.

In Her Shoes- a film about a jobless party girl and her confrontations with her conservative and successful sister. Starring Cameron Diaz (What Happens In Vegas..), Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine), and Shirley MacLaine (Bewitched). I checked out this film because I think Cameron Diaz is fucking sexy! And boy was it nice seeing her in her underwear in this film. Other than that the film was pretty good. Acting was good, and the drama flew smoothly along.

Nightmare At Noon.

This was a bangin' zombie movie. The story was nice and the characters were actually worth following which is always nice. The actors looked familiar, but I didn't remember there names from anywhere else. However, the story consisted of this group called APE experimenting on a small populated town with some chemical that turned it's residents into zombies through the town's water supply. They followed it well and it was pretty action packed through out. Some of the stunts sucked ass and shouldn't have happened, but most people would probably love them. At a couple of points people rolled down the mountain so slow that it looked they were trying not to get hurt. It was sad, because they were already dead. I really didn't enjoy the end which had this really long and boring helicopter scene. It should have never happened, seriously. Still a quality zombie movie where the zombies are actually quite mobile and very aggressive. If's not like most zombie movies, but a very fun watch. I'd totally recommend this.

Heat

What an awesome film. Pacino and De Niro in the same film, for the first time ever! Add to that a great story, plenty of action, and... who the hell needs more than that? Also, it is apparently being made into a game, with its own page on IMDB, so there is a good chance it is really happening .

Saturdays Movies

Slumdog Millionaire - **** (9/10)
- 2008 Hindi drama directed by Boyle. This was a terrific movie, and i cant praise Boyles directing enough. He gave this movie excellent pacing, keeping this drama at almost a quickened pace by combining the movies drama with nice chase scenes through the slums and heart-pounding music by MIA and others. It was touching, heartfelt, and one of the finest movies of the year.

Choke - **1/2 (6/10)
- 2008 black comedy starring Sam Rockwell as Victor, a man who fakes choking in restaurants, working off the old adage that once people save a life, they feel responsible for it. He is also a sex addict, and his best friend Denny masturbates all the time. This was a HUGE disappointment, as i loved the book, and the screenwriter is the same one who wrote Fight Club. While this one has most of the pieces there, it just sort of comes out as dull, and we never really get into the depth of the story.

Ju-on 2 - ** (5/10)
- 2000 asian horror that was the sequel to the first one. This is the "Grudge" stories. While this one had generally some really creepy moments, and overall is was sort of a scary movie, it suffered from an even worse case of incoherence as the first one. The script is just all over the place, and you spend more time trying to connect everything than being able to get into the movie. If it had been told in a little more linear fashion it could have been a solid horror.
