Big Daddy- a film about a lazy man who adopts a kid and soon becomes a father figure for him. Starring Adam Sandler (You Don't Mess With the Zohan), Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy), and Dylan and Cole Sprouse. I usually enjoy Adam Sandler films, and this one was no different. It was humorous and I laughed quite a bit throughout. Nice seeing Steve Buscemi in this film, even though it was a small role. If you like Sandler, watch this film.

I actually enjoyed Drillbit Taylor a lot. Even though its very unrealistic at times I thought it was really funny and had that Apatow charm too it.

Breaking the waves (1996)

A naive woman falls in love and marries a danish oil rig worker. After he's in an accident that leaves him paralyzed, he urges her to go out and have sex with other men and tell him about it.

I mainly checked this movie out because it was directed by Lars von Trier who did "Dancer in the Dark" and "Dogville" 2 films which I really liked. This one is another long almost marathon watching. It clocks in at 2 hours and 38 minutes! Definitely not for people with short attention spans I even found myself dosing off once or twice. It really does move at a snails pace but the story is so unique and captivating that its worth it. This was Emily Watson's first role and wow did she do an amazing job! This is the year that Frances McDormand won the Oscar for Fargo and while I love her in that, I don't see how Watson didn't win it. Heartbreaking and uneasy to watch at times BTW is a film not for everyone but if you're looking for a deep and rewarding love story albeit bleak as hell then check this one out.

The Departed (2006)-

Lies. Betrayal. Sacrifice. How far will you take it?

Before seeing this, I knew I was in for a treat, given that it's a Scorsese movie, but The Departed was even better than I expected.

The acting is outstanding. Leonardo DiCaprio gives what is quite possibly the best performance of his career. Even the people who hate him admit he did a good job. It's turned some haters into fans and my brother who despises him even says he was great. Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson give their best performances since The Talented Mr. Ripley and As Good As It Gets. Mark Wahlberg almost steals the show with the best lines. Ray Winstone, Alec Baldwin, and Martin Sheen are good, too.

Definitely one of the best films of the 00's. And easily one of the best remakes of all time. It's intense, funny, exciting, suspenseful, superbly acted, violent, has great characters, and has one of the most shocking scenes I've ever seen. And there's not a boring moment in it's two and a half hour running time.

The film won 4 oscars including Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Picture. It deserved all of these awards and more.

See this as soon as you can.

Overall: 10/10, one of my favorite films of all-time.

The Happening (2008)

A mysterious virus causes people to kill themselves. A group of survivors try to make sense out of it as they struggle to stay alive.

After Lady in the Water I didn't have high hope for this one at all, but for the most part I enjoyed it. The storyline was its strongest point. I loved the whole idea behind it and it was entertaining enough at least in the beginning. Now the bad... The acting was pretty sub-par I thought even Wahlberg whose usually great was average at best. The writing was downright terrible, the dialogs in the movie were so bad they were laughable at times. Even with it's faults I was enjoying it right up until the last 30 minutes or so where it kinda crawled to a finish. Overall not a terrible film, but not great either. It took an original and compelling premise and didn't fully take advantage of it. Can't say I'll be looking forward to the sequel.

6.5/10

From how it ended it sure looked like that way. But I don't know. With the success it had this weekend I don't see why they wouldn't.

I know it did better than they thought it would but I'd think it would have to do that for a couple more weeks before they went ahead with a sequel.

Hmmm I don't know if a sequel would be successful at all. I am a fan of this film, but would not like a sequel. Like how far would they get with a sequel? They would probably be able to fully analysis what causes the suicides. But I don't think a whole new film is a good way for doing that. But then again my opinion doesn't matter to them. Its up to Shayamalan if he wants a sequel..

Live Free or Diehard
Bruce Willis reprises his role as resident Bad Ass Cop, John McLaine in the attempt to conteract a group of hackers/terrorists hell bent on destorying the united states infostructure. In addition to Willis, the movie also stars Maggie Q, Timothy Olyphant (Hitman), and Justin Long (Waiting). This movie was basically alot of shit getting blown up very early and often. For me it really didnt take away from the movie. Obivously the acting is gonna get any oscar nods, but for a good action/popcorn movie this really is up there.

Rating - B+
