Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

It was the most brutal and violent of all of the Rambo films. You have body's blown up, limbs ripped open and blood all over the place. The acting was fine. Sly did his part in his acting and the rest of the actors were solid. I really enjoyed the film. It did it's part when it comes to the violence factor.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

First Blood
Story- A veitnam vet is abused by a police ofrce after he is picked up by them for really no reason, he breaks out and then a manhunt is out for him. rambo is pretty much kicking their ass and his old commando is sent in to help.

Acting-sly is badass in this movie, and the cops were pretty good also.

Action- this movie is the least voilent of all the series but it's got some cool action scenes and some good deaths in the movie, some guy gets wooden spikes shoved through him.

Overall- it's a good movie, Rambo was pretty cool. Instead of just seeing Rambo taking out as many people as humanly possible like the other movies, this is more about him hiding out and becoming a hunter and setting traps. 8.5/10.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Just got done watching the DVD. I'm pretty happy about how this whole movie went about. It kept pretty true to the older Rambo movies and the actual struggles and sadness that has actually been taking place in Burma since Vietnam. I thought the action and gun battles along with the turrets bullets decapitating and splitting men in half was awesome. Rambo slicing guys heads off with a machete was truely bad ass. Although with the great action aside, I was expecting a thicker plot and maybe a bit of a longer movie in all.

In Bruges

Didn't like it as much as the critics did. I did think it was funny at certain parts, but in the end I couldn't help ponder to myself, who cares? :/. Colin Ferral was pretty awesome in it though.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Without having so much as looked at this thread before, i came here to comment on "In Bruges" too...what are the odds?

In Bruges
Loved it. I really did.
Tons of character work, Colin Farrell on tip-top form (how rare is that?), great performances all over the place and a very - VERY - "different" movie.
Pitch black comedy, or rather, straight fish-out-of-the-water gangster comedy mixed with some really dark patches here and there.
Every character is solid and has weight, script is out of this world (the "Uzi" line, the bit about growing up on a farm and ofcourse "like Tottenham" had me laughing so hard ), plus Clémence Poésy in this film is one of the most beautiful women i've ever seen...
Highly Recommended by me. It's not for everyone, as the post above me suggests, but if it's your cup of tea...you'll love it!

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Rocky 4

Story- a new Russian boxer named Ivan Drago, who is pretty much Arnold Schwarzineger with a pair of boxing gloves, is rising through the ranks and want to go to America to box with the best in the world. So Apollo Creed goes on a ego trip and challenges him to a boxing match. well the boxing match goes very bad and ends in tragedy. Rocky wants revenge and challenges Drago to a fight. So this is pretty much America vs Russia in a boxing ring.

Acting- Sly and Apollo were good, and Drago while over the top i think he had to be becuase he was bassically a killing machine in this movie. The rest of the cast really didn't do anything.

Overall- this movie is really entertaining. I mean it's like 50% montage and 50% movie . the movie has a lot of corny 80's music and no Gonna Fly Now which I think sucks becuase everytime I think of Rocky I think of Gonna Fly Now and rocky running up something. The training montage was cool becuase while you see Drago doing Steriods and training with all these high tech things while Rocky is out in the wilderness doing it the old fashioned way. The fight was really cool, rocky takes a beating no mortal man should be able to take. Drago has some cool lines, "I must break you" is the best. ThE ending speech while corny is really cool. 8.5/10

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

88 Minutes-

He has 88 minutes to solve a murder. His own.

This was a disappointing movie. Especially considering it has such a solid actor like Al Pacino.

Al plays the role of a psychologist consultant for the police who is also a teacher of forensic psychology. The movie starts the day a serial killer who was convicted based on his testimony is about to executed. But it is a bad day for Al's character because there is new evidence that suggests he helped convict the wrong man. Oh, not only that, but he receives an anonymous phone call telling him he has 88 minutes to live.

Al Pacino plays a hardcore guy in most of his films, that is usually what makes them great. It seems like they tried to do the same thing with this movie and accomplished the opposite. His character is surrounded by bimbo 20-year-olds throwing themselves at him and guys with leather jackets for him to beat up. But it just ends up feeling like a desperate attempt to prove he "still has it." The only thing floating this movie is a gimmick for a plot (the whole 88 minutes to live thing) which sort of ends of being a subplot anyway. Al Pacino fans are going to hate me for saying all this until they see it for themselves.

Re: Rate & Mini-Summarize the Last Movie You Saw

Wow, what an amazing movie.

I haven't been scared or shocked by a film like this since I first saw The Texas Chain Saw Massacre when I was about 6. The last 20 minutes in particular has to be the best piece of horror I've ever seen.

Ramero should've watched this and taken note before he made the god awful Diary of the Dead.

Shame that the American's will butcher it in the remake, as this has gone right to the top of my favourite horror films.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day:

Got very bored today, decided to re-live the best sci-fi/sequels ever made and watched T2. Man seeing movies today they don't touch this film or any of the Terminator films in any way. What made this sequel so great is it's characters and told a very good story on top of the non-stop violence and breathtaking action sequences. I've got to say this film is up there with one of my favorites in terms of sci-fi/action movies if not my favorite. Hopefully if rumors are correct the forth film will come out next year and I'm hoping it will serve this franchise it's justice too bad Arnold won't be reprising his role

Anyways, I love re-watching old classics.
