[REC]

**May contain spoliers for you, I tried not to tell story**
[Rec] is a Spanish (spoken in spanish also) camera held horror zombie film, (Zombies as in the 28 days later type) that I think is the best horror film I have seen, since, well... 28 days later, those many years ago. Sadly, over here and in America it's always going to be seen as "that other hand-cam movie" - yet this was out in Spain over a year ago, so didnt do any copying really.
It has a simple premise; late night TV presenter Angela and her unseen, camera-man Pablo are doing an article upon fire-fighters, they meet some firemen, and get called out to a building where there seems to have been a spot of trouble. After a few excellently done scares and tension, we find out they're trapped under quarantine, with talks of a virus outbreak.
At only 72 minutes long, it's an incredibly undiluted experience. There's no chance for bullshit filler, like in Diary of the dead, and no time for a breather once it gets going, and this works heavily in it's favour. All action is amazingly frenzied and realistic, the camera getting shakier, but doesnt make you sick like in Cloverfield, and the more scared Pablo gets, which is really done well as you can hear him talking to himself etc.
The final 20 minutes or so of the film are real edge-of-your-seat, top quality filming, hide-behind-the-cushion, taking a dramatic twist that will genuinely scare you shitless, ending with a horrific final shot that will linger in the memory for weeks to come.
If you liked 28 days later, horror films, or even original films, I highly recommend this film to you. You will have to read subtitles but there isn't too much chatter anyway.
Also see it before, the undoubtedly, shite Hollywood remake that is being remade right now, that they will butcher it with filler and cliché.
I rate this film;
9.3/10.
EDIT: Just found out that the remake is called: Quarantine and is out around October this year.

It looks like theyve changed the story alot for fuck sake.
**Dont read this if you intend on watching it**
In that trailer, the brilliant ending is shown, I dont know why, as thats the best bit in the film, and the woman acting in it looks so fucking stupid there. Honestly, if you watch the film, and watch that trailer again, it looks ridiculous.
