Re: The Dark Knight' Official Discussion Thread
The robotic look is so he can be more flexible. He can move his neck more and stuff like that. The look alike plot is some plot believed to be linked to the riddler as far as I know. Either way...amazing pictures and i am really excited to go see this!

Joker ruins Bats first suit hence the new suit. Plus as for the other Batmen:
- Casting has just been completed for 400 extras to play police officers in a major scene to be shot next week. The scene is most likely a funeral scene.
- Why a funeral scene? Well, it turns out that in his quest to turn the city of Gotham upside down, The Joker (Heath Ledger) knocks off both the Mayor and the Police Commissioner. He goes after DA Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) by dropping in on a party for Dent being held by Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale). You may already know about the party, especially if you saw those pics. This is where The Joker grabs a hold of Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and ultimately where he first battles Batman.
- My good friend Peter over at /Film reported a few weeks ago that The Joker does in fact kidnap Rachel Dawes from the party (as seen in the first Joker pic that was released; the one where he is holding a knife to her throat). According to my source, that is only partly true. It turns out that The Joker shows up to the party looking for Harvey Dent, as he is next in line to die. Bruce Wayne slips out of the party and puts dons the Batsuit (which seems to be getting mixed reactions from the fans). When he re-enters, he throws Dent out of the way, leaving Dawes (who was Dent’s date) unattended. The Joker then takes her as his hostage and ultimately ends up throwing her out of the window. He also jumps out of the window, followed by Batman.
- Also showing up at the party is Senator Patrick Leahy, who also has words with The Joker.
- In describing Heath Ledger as The Joker, our source said, “Heath Ledger is good. Very Dark. He looked sort of like a bum clown, as if haphazardly done. His hair was nappy — he looked kinda weasely. But he is a twisted, scary guy.”
- Our source also revealed that the entire party sequence was shot with a steadicam, with some shots being conducted with an IMAX camera.
- Our source also tried to help clear up the “multiple Batmans” rumor that has been running rampant around the interwebs. We obviously know that there are multiple guys in Batsuits running around the city, as evidence from the pictures that were leaked. Our source said that based on the dialogue he has heard in some of the scenes, this is all a ploy by The Joker to damage Batman’s image. It all plays into a sick and twisted mind game that The Joker uses to create chaos. It certainly makes more sense than the “Batman impostor” theory that has been going around.
Quite a lot of information, I know. Some of it is new and some of it just clears up information that is already out there, but it is all very interesting. What strikes me is the element of this mind game between The Joker and Batman. That plays so well into Christopher Nolan’s style as a storyteller. The potential is limitless. It also somewhat explains the look of The Joker, with the make-up and the dyed hair. In this version, it seems to me that they are creating a Joker that is less a physical creation and more a mental creation, in that this Joker is just a nutcase who dyes his hair and probably cut up his own face to get that look. If they continue to take him down a darker and more twisted slope, I am in — even despite the fact that his skin won’t be chemically altered to white.

Re: The Dark Knight' Official Discussion Thread
Yea, kinda bummed that nothing is wrong with his skin, but I do like the whole psychological element added to all this. He's not a creation from a physical attribution, but simply a mental nutcase. I like the whole smearing makeup because it adds to his psychotic image and him look more deranged and dark. Thanks a lot for all the info, just wondering...any new info on the joker spraying harvey in his face? That seems to be the plot that will lead us into the next film...also,I heard scarecrow does appear in this film, does he have any real relevance in this whole film or is he just part of a minor scene? the pictures looks awesome and despite the change, the new batman look is better suited for this whole series. He seems more human now.

Re: The Dark Knight' Official Discussion Thread

Bruce's Car

Batman??
"We went down to IBM Plaza Friday morning to see if anything was going on. Filming was taking place on the 3rd (?) floor. A lot of moving around on the outside of lighting equipment. We happened to be standing right in the plaza against the bridge wall while they were taping the area off and no one told us to leave, so we were taped in.
We eventually felt funny so we went under the tape and stood on the Wabash Street sidewalk by the bridge. There was a headless dummy laying near us on the ground with several crew members around it. One crew member was holding the dummy’s head in a plastic bag. Two costume designers eventually came and were dressing the dummy in black. One designer had a big black cape to go around the dummy. The cape was enormous. The head was eventually attached. The face to me looked more like Bear Grylls then Christian Bale.
We were afraid to talk to anyone because we standing right were all the action was going to take place and did not want to be asked to move. A female cop came by to look at the body and she asked if it was Batman and they told her yes.
There was plastic bags were blowing out of a 13th (?) floor office window. We figured out that they were probably going to throw the body out of the window which was verified by IBM employees who came out for their break and were talking about the action for Friday.
Extras were brought out to stand on the State Street Bridge and on Wacker Drive (maybe 10 people). They were standing out there for almost 2 hours. Extras as cops were also standing around on State Street. Another crane was being brought onto the bridge where we were so we decided to move back. (The fumes can be overwhelming especially in the hot sun).
My son got some pictures of the extras and the prop truck. We were afraid to take pictures -- we did not want to be asked to leave. Gary Oldman came out to the plaza for a smoke with some other people. There was a gentleman who got dropped off by Trump Tower and ran across the street who looked like Aaron Eckhart in a dress shirt & tie and blue pants. I caught a glimpse of a man who briefly came to the 1st floor window who could have been Christian Bale in a green (?) business suit.
When we got back on the EL at 11:30 AM, you could see the IBM Plaza from the platform and filming was still going on."
"I saw the shoot report for 8/17 and attached are some pictures about what 'Melrose Park Patti wrote about. They replaced a window and there was suppose to be something or someone going out or coming in the window. Also a couple pictures of the Lamborghini that is allegedly Bruce Wayne's car."

Re: The Dark Knight' Official Discussion Thread
I truley believe that "The Dark Knight" could take the title of 'The greatest superhero movie ever' and being the huge batman fan that I am I am going to make a bold statement,"The Dark Knight WILL BE the greatest superhero movie ever."

Re: The Dark Knight' Official Discussion Thread
I hope this is good. I didn't like Begins. The batsuit looks rubbish, I thought he was supposed to dress like a bat not a robot.
