Re: The Dark Knight' Official Discussion Thread

From SHH:
First, I talked to this guy last night while I was hanging around the perimeter of the out reasons.*SPOILERS* that the Joker shoots the Tumbler with some sort of missile or rocket which causes the Tumbler to hit a car, flip or jettison into the air, and explode. And, the Batpod is indeed a leftover or a built-in component of the Tumbler which survives the explosion.
He might not know what he is talking about, but, based on our conversation, I think he does. And, if you look at his credits, he actually works on movies; he's not one of the security kids I've tried to talk to who doesn't know anything except how to use a walkie-talkie.
Next, I've been hanging out after hours in my office on a few occasions to catch a glimpse of the filming. And last night, I hung around on the street. These are the pictures and videos I've managed to capture the last two weeks. I don't send these to BOF or Hollywood Chicago, I just post them here. I hope you guys enjoy.
This is a plain picture of the SWAT van Gordon was in, kind of *****ty: http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1610.jpg
Here are a couple of GPD vehicles: http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1595.jpg
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1598.jpg
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1599.jpg
Here is a "GCN" van, which I assume means "Gotham City News."
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1600.jpg
Here are some pictures of a GPD helicopter as it was flying low over the rooftops and shining its searchlight. Whoever was piloting this thing was amazing. He would hover five feet above a roof, between multiple buildings of staggered height. I hope he got hazard pay.

http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1585.jpg
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1586.jpg
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1587.jpg
Here are some pictures of the Joker's semi. I took these before they had closed the streets. DON'T LOOK IF YOU ARE TRYING TO AVOID SPOILERS!!! Seriously.
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1596.jpg
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1597.jpg
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=IMG_1594.jpg
Now, the videos. On a lot of these, *Edited out*.. That's how I was able to get so close. Also, she and most of her staff are Bosnian, so that's the crazy talk you hear in the background. I had to try to explain to them what was going on. Most of them had never even heard of Batman, much less "The Dark Knight." It was kind of a weird night.
On all these, you can see what is going on much better if you click "full size" on the bottom right corner of the display and shrink the full size window until the picture becomes less blurry.
Here is a video of the helicopter:
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=MVI_1574.flv
Here are some videos of the SWAT van speeding down LaSalle, and in the last one it is being followed by the Joker's semi.
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=MVI_1579.flv
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=MVI_1580.flv
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=MVI_1588.flv
Here are three videos I took last night of a scene in which the SWAT van comes down LaSalle (it was being pulled, that's how I knew someone important was inside; they do the same thing with the Batpod, the stuntman actually rides it around like a motorcycle, but Bale gets pulled behind a truck, haha). It stops and Gordon jumps out with a shotgun in hand. In one of the videos, he wears a ski mask. In the other two, he does not. Also, you can see one of the wanker walkie-talkie kids trying to block our angle so we couldn't record. Chris Nolan was in the truck pulling the SWAT van, but you can't really see him because he's amongst so many other people.
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=MVI_1615.flv
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z...t=MVI_1611.flv
In this one, you can see Gordon stumble as he jumps out. Kind of funny.

You can see all the images I have capture here:

Also:
There's one video being uploaded that tells what happens to the JOKER at the end of the film. I just recorded a scene they are filming involving Harvey Dent.
*SPOILERS* DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE TRYING TO AVOID SPOILERS!!!
In the scene, the Joker's semi has already been flipped. As Dent is walking in the clip, it is behind him, but I didn't get it in the shot. It is in the same spot as it was in the images in my OP, so you can look there.
It is very difficult to see, but the cops are putting some of Joker's goons into the paddy wagon as Dent (in the gray suit) is walking toward the top of the screen toward the large groups of reporters. As he gets there, you can hear one reporter say *LAST CHANCE TO AVOID SPOILERS* "Mr. Dent, Mr. Dent, was it your plan or the Batman's that led to the arrest of the Joker." You can't make it out completely in the video, but they are shooting the scene over and over, and I finally filled in all the words. I kept waiting for someone to pop out and throw acid on dent (I was hoping), but no dice.
The videos (which are basically identical, two different run throughs) are uploading now, so I will update this post once they are finished. Oh yeah, to get this stuff, I was sitting on a window ledge on the 15th floor of my building. I am scared *beep* of heights, but this is Batman, so what can I do. I'm employing the freakin' deathgrip on the inside protrusion of the window.

Re: The Dark Knight' Official Discussion Thread
From FilmIck: http://www.filmick.co.uk/2007/08/digital-dent.html
I've been told by a rock-solid source that Cinesite in London are to be handling the CG FX for Two Face in The Dark Knight, with their work due to start in earnest in November. I mention this just so you know it isn't an entirely make-up based look.
But why not, I wonder? The only solid reasons I can think of are all mouth-based - teeth showing through a wound, maybe, or impossible mouth movements.
Cinesite are, frankly, brilliant and have a great back catlogue of work - from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory through The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to Hot Fuzz.
"As regards to how Heath Ledger *seemed* as The Joker, he seemed like he WAS The Joker, and didn't need to let anyone know it - rather contained, but ready to explode at any moment in an unexpected fashion. Menacing, but more because he seemed like he was probably crazy, and maybe violent, rather than that he was TRYING to scare you. (and by the way, all he did during the scenes I was in was sit in his holding cell, reacting and listening...so, he's a very fine actor if I imbibed all this from just watching him sit there...) He didn't talk a lot between takes, but he also wasn't 'Don't approach me!' in his manner - a real pro, in other words.
In short, he seemed just like The Joker SHOULD seem."

Re: The Dark Knight' Official Discussion Thread
Don't like the idea of CG make-up, so to speak

Re: The Dark Knight' Official Discussion Thread
* When The Joker (Heath Ledger) kidnaps Rachael Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) from a big party, Dawes is forced to reveal Batman’s true identity, Bruce Wayne. Later, however, The Joker becomes convinced that Dawes lied to him when he encounters both Bruce Wayne and Batman in the same room together simultaneously. I have no idea how Bruce pulls this off. I would assume that if a Batman impostor exists, Joker would likely be in on that joke. This causes Joker to think that Bruce Wayne is NOT Batman and that Rachel, in fact, lied to him… His accusation of her deception doesn’t end well.
* Apparently there is an impostor posing as Batman who is running around Gotham City. The cops believe he is the real Batman and that he is on their side. How this plays into the big story is unknown. I know that this may seem very unlikely and improbable, but my source has not been wrong yet.
