Has anyone else noticed that Anime is starting to outgrow it's own "usual" fanbase? Earlier today in school I was on my laptop doing my own thing, when someone played one of Bleach opening on his phone, it was a group of kids who looked like they new nothing about anime, but were very familiar with Bleach (and most likely other series), it took me by surprise really. They had an urban look and didn't look the slightest bit interested in Anime, I actually know one of the guys, which again is why I was taking by surprise. Didn't join in the conversation, but I did evasedrop a little.
I think its more of a case of some shows transcending the Anime boundaries than all of anime in general. Mostly Bleach, Naruto and One Piece are world wide hits now-a-days (even though i believe their popularity is starting to decline.)
its like back in the 90s, Anime wasn't particularly huge but almost everyone in my school knew who Goku was
Me ranting for 30 fucking minutes on how much I hate LOK and to be honest,Not even 30 minutes was enough for me to bitch about everything I hate in LOK.I'm probably gonna get allot of hate for this,But so be it.
I thought the show was really good with the exception of Mako. He such a terrible main male protagonist. Such a self-righteous douchebag who believes he could do no wrong yet basically cheated on a girl who left her father to join him and his friends.

Just watched Sword Art Online episode 14 for those of you who have seen it, thoughts?
I have never been more mad at how this anime is going to end it had the potential to be really good (wished it showed better fight scenes) and the anime could have lasted for alot of episodes just disappointing.

That's just the Epic in Bleach transcending cultural boundaries. Do not be alarmed.

I'm disappointed with it but episode 14 was pretty good especially at the ending (poor Kirito D: )
The issue was with the director (who was a new director, and SAO was his first project, apparently).
But it's not ending by the way, there are three more arcs left (as far as I know, and I didn't read the LN)

I think Kusksu hit it on the head. This is the normal "transcending the norm" fan base deal, there's at least one every decade for most genre of media. These transcending trends do tend to bother me though, not because I want to keep anime in its normal fan base, far from that, but because the transcenders tend to feel like the lesser quality anime.

[This is where I'd put one of my drawings I worked hard on in my sig, but since I'd have to spring five bucks to do so, I'll just put me photobucket link here.]
After Watching One Piece consistently over the last 3 or so months, reaching episode 299, i've came to the conclusion that One Piece > Dragonball Z. AND i love dragonball z. Both shows are very similar in style and spirit.
Honestly the characters are handled so much better and the locations feel so much more real than anything in Dragonball. Non of the characters on one Piece are sacrificed to make another character look brilliant, and even though i love the epic long fights in dragonball z, the shorter fights in One Piece are nearly as satisfying. Also the interactions between the characters, main and minor, are much more interesting on one piece. Just My Opinion of course.
Saying that i'm only half way through the series so it might have declined in quality later, but hope not

Damn, RIP Old Man Yama.
Yeah, sad to see him go, always been one of my favorite characters but DAMN, what a way to go! I loved it, shit was extremely brutal, it fits the Old Man, he'd want to go out like that instead of some slow, lingering death.
That, Kubo, is how you orchestrate a death! All props to one of the GOAT, Old Man Yama.
The Ritters' plan is actually pretty straightforward; break in, destroy each obstacle completely, demolish the Seretei, & wait for those assigned to destroy any threat great enough to do so. I wonder how Bach knows about Squad Zero.
Excellent Chapter
