Ok I see that you like it and that's cool with me since it's an interesting series but in what way did it change anime industry?

Also how long have you been into anime?

Not too fond of Evangelion. Tried 3 times to watch it, but always quit after 5 - 8 episodes.

It changed the super robot genre by getting away from the character arcitypes that have existed in it since Manzinger Z. Anime in general: Anime started to be more post-modern and cerebral.

It, for one, changed the mecha genre as a whole. It practically put Gainax on the map. Since it ended more and more shows have been akin to Evangelion style of mechs. Most anime series have used the archetypes of Asuka, Rei, Shinji and Misato. It became a top seller in merchandising in Japan.

I've been watching anime since between the early to mid 90s when I was a kid. Shows like Speed Racer and Voltron. But I've became a huge anime fan somewhere in 2001-2003.

Aside from the previously mention (though this probably leans on one of Vik's example) Character development since Eva has evolved quite a bit. Allot of the anime I saw before Eva had characters that really didn't change over time, sometime after Eva, characters in anime began to really shape episode after episode.

Am I the only one who noticed Gonta of Deadman Wonderland is very much like Shinji Ikari? He has that "preassure point" emotional system Shinji had, where he would snap into aggression? Even the English voice, where it can sound very grating and "why?" until he goes into the snap, and the voice begins to make sense.
