Some anime do borrow ideas and locations from other cultures. Gunsmith Cats comes to mind. An anime that takes place in Chicago. Some say it's a very westernized anime. Baccano's setting seems very western as well. Aria takes it setting from Venice. Panty and Stocking is influenced by western cartoons and movies.
But Naruto, I can't see the correlation between that and the Bible. Naruto, by it's very nature, has tons of japanese folklore. On top which, as Saints said, you can apply and compare characters and story to any work of literature or art, if you look deep enough and over analyzed. Every major story has been told, it's just a matter on how it's told.

So anybody else planning to see the new Fullmetal alchemist movie that's coming out? I know it's nothing more than a cash in on the success of Brotherhood, but i'm still pretty darn excited for it. FMA has never disappointed IMHO.
I heard the American remake of Akira has been postponed indefinitely...
Should I get the celebratory poppers and confetti?

Not to sound assholish but it seems like that series is becoming like DB(Z,GT),Bleach & Naruto. Dont get me wrong I love the shit outta all three of them but Bleach's last arc was manga filler to get Ichigo's power back,DBZ shouldve ended when Gohan beat Cell(not saying Gohan shouldve been the strongest) & Naruto...Ill let pass because Naruto & Sasgay havent fought yet. But I'd watch it. Im not a super fan of FMA but I catch it from time to time.
Sorry for the double post, but I just finishing an episode of the new Blade anime... and he fought a were-tiger that apparently can breath under water? WTF! A WERE-TIGER? WTF!
