Finished off the second season of Darker than Black. The first season was somewhat episodic, this season went with one constant storyline that stuck out the season's entirety. I thought it was good, but still left things even more unexplained. Not only did the unanswered questions about the gate did not get answer but more questions were left unanswered. Such as
Some things really left me scratching my head.
Some characters I felt were good and others needed to be fleshed out more. As I stated before I didn't care for Suo that much, but I've come around to liking her. Suo seemingly replaces Yin and Huang. Yin doesn't really make appearance until the last couple of episodes. Mina and Genma are good characters but could have been great if the length of the episodes was extended. When characters die, you don't really feel the emotional impact because you don't really care about that said character. And one thing this season needs is more GAI KURUSAWA!
The music I felt was good in some places and okay in other places. I really missed the jazz soundtrack that was in the first season. Although opening theme is better than the first season. Character animation and design is roughly the same, but some of the background scenery has drastically improved. Some backgrounds would like almost realistic.
Overall though, I enjoyed the second season, but not as much as the first one. More fleshed out characters in first season were replaced with less developed ones, I blame this on the length of the episodes. Things weren't thoroughly explained. Still a good season nonetheless.
7.75-8/10, really had hard time deciding what to give this one.
