Bleach is an anime series that follows the life of a 15 year old boy by the name of Kurosaki Ichigo. Ichigo is not any average boy; he has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. This stems from his other unusual trait: awesome, untapped Spiritual energy. Ichigo does what he can for the spirits he meets, until a Hollow (evil soul spirit) attacks him and his family. To the rescue comes a female Shinigami (Death God) named Kuchiki Rukia. Rukia chases the Hollow off, and is astounded by the fact that Ichigo can see her and the Hollow, which most mortals cannot. She explains that Shinigami have two duties: to lead the “Pluses” (good souls) to their rest in Soul Society, and to exterminate Hollows, who endanger them. All Shinigami carry a Zanpakutou, or Soul Slayer, with which they can release the Pluses and kill the Hollows. These Zanpakutou resemble katanas in their shape and size. The Hollow comes back at this point to menace the pair again, and Rukia is badly wounded. She thrusts her Zanpakutou into Ichigo’s body, intending to transfer enough of her power into him to enable him to destroy the Hollow….except his soul takes all her power, and combines it with his own, which enables him to dispatch the Hollow with ease. Thus begins Ichigo’s journey, as high-school student and part-time Death God!
This is pretty much the description of the story up to episode 16.

I am quite terrible at summing up such a large subject. So the best bet would be to check out bleachexile and their forums.

Actually, better yet, Wiki it. Read through the Wiki. Its a perfect explanation with a lot of depth.

I didn't want to give to much away, ya know.

I'm up to episode 19 of Death Note, and I don't like where it's going right now.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

Bleach:

Ichigo = Human Shinigami

Rukia = Ex-Shinigami stuck in Human world

Plot = they fight ghosts and shit. then Rukia gets taken prisoner by her people and Ichigo goes and saves her.

Action = kick ass

that's the plot for the first 60+ episodes. have fun with it. it's totally worth watching up until the end of the Soul Society arc and i've been told, the Arrancarr arc is great too

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

Well, I lost interest in unrealistic anime. But recently, I've been reading Buso Renkin, and it's not too bad. My favorite anime series that I've seen in the past year would have to be Beck. You guys should really check it out if you haven't already.

trust me, episode 22 or 23 (whichever is Mania) is fucking amazing. it's one of the best single episodes of anime i've ever seen. the show constantly gets better.

Mania is 23.

Like Seph said, Bleach is great until the SS Arc is over. Then you have the Bount arc, which still has great fights, but little progression. Arrancar Arc is money, and Hueco Mundo Arc will be great, too.

Its still the Arrancar Arc in the Anime. HM Arc still has a while until it starts.

A lot of people confuse the Arrancar Arc and the Hueco Mundo Arc for being the same thing, but they are indeed different.

Age rating: Teenagers (May contain bloody violence, bad language, nudity)
Plot Summary: Minami “Ikki” Itsuki, is a student and a delinquent. Also known as the “Unbeatable Babyface,” Ikki is the leader of the youth gang by the name of “East Side Gunz.” Upon his return home after being humiliated by a street gang of Storm Riders called the Skull Saders Ikki discovers a secret hidden from him by his benefactors, the Noyamano sisters. The sisters belong to a group of Storm Riders who go by the team name of Sleeping Forest. Keen on helping Ikki to regain his confidence and pride, they supply him with a pair of Air Trecks (abbreviated as “AT”). Ikki eventually settles his grudge with the Skull Saders, but in the process he receives more than the simple satisfaction of revenge. Determined to experience the sensation of “flight” for as long as he can, our headstrong protagonist is quickly sucked into the mysterious, yet irresistible world of Air Treck.
This is a great anime, if you like shounen anime's you'll definitely will like this one. Only twenty-six episodes with one season, but still great.

I finished up to episode 22, and don't get me wrong, I'm still really into it, I just liked it better when Light was Kira, and it was a battle of wits between L and Light, I just don't like this whole deal with the other Kira and this whole corporation thing.
