I'm talking "sitting in the dark after it's done, thinking about it" stuff here.

I still haven't gone past the first 3 eps of "Now and Then, Here and There" btw. I haven't been in the mood for any serious stuff lately and the fact that Virgin Media has Comedy Central on open air until May doesn't help either...non-stop Two and a Half Men and Scrubs FTW!
If you're not in the mood for serious stuff, the NaTHaT is definitely something to avoid for the time being. It has its comedy moments, but they definitely take the "war is hell" theory to a level.

And, I would agree with the Bleach thing... But... I watch the first episodes, when Ichigo was just a teen who accidentally became a Soul Reaper... And then everything since he invaded Seireitei, and... I miss the old episodes.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

The new episode of FMA was so much better than the original episode in the original series. The ending was much more effective, even without the lasting shot of Nina blown up all over an alley wall.

I'm surprised that two characters that lasted longer in the original series died in this episode. Did that happen in the manga?

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

New episode was excellent. Lots of action. A lot better episode than the original encounter between Ed and Scar in the first series. Can't wait for next week's episode.

They are currently around episode 14 or 15 of the first series, so they are getting all of that done a lot quicker than i imagined.

At this pace they should start deviating from the old anime within a handfull of episodes and i'm guessing they'll slow it back down then.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

FMA 3, 4 and 5 just seem to ran through the motions. I don't know if any fan could enjoy those to the fullest if they haven't seen the previous anime or read the manga. But then again I don't think they are marketing to such a demographic and even if they don't enjoy it as much as they could, it's still better than 95% of anime.

The Lior saga was one of my favorite portions in the previous anime. The two part story didn't bother me whatsoever because the first episode added so much more intrigue and the second concluded it grandly. This one, though followed the manga much more closer even had a monster Cornello so that's a plus. They also tied their points together better than they did in either of the previous installments.

Tucker and Scar episodes were fun as well, although not as strong as the original versions. I didn't want another version of FMA, I wanted a definitive version of FMA and so far I'm disappointed but it should pick up when the plot starts kicking in.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

I'm enjoying these episodes a lot more than the original series because I pretty much hated the first 12 episodes except the State Alchemist Exam episode and the train episode

Trust me. Shit is going to PICK THE FUCK UP around episode 15/20 once Greed and Lin are in place.

Who cares?

I remember the golden years.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

I only seen the first two episodes of FMA Brotherhood (mostly because of school, and LaTale) but from what I seen it's pretty cool. Though, I would disagree with the hating of the first 12 episodes of the first Anime series. I actually enjoyed them.

Anime related chatter:

Also got to watch the first episode of the new DBZ remake... Yeah, most likely not gonna go back.

Been trying to finish up the Marchen Awakens Romance (MÄR) anime series (regardless of the fact I think the Manga was far better.) I have no idea how they milked so many episodes out of a 15 volume series, without it being 30% filler episodes.

Also been watching allot of Ouran High School Host Club. Pretty funny series. One thing I don't like is the end credits, the fact that they had an English cover for Last Alliance's song just drives me up the wall for some reason.
