Bulma's Breasts > Boy Goku > Adult Goku > Vegeta > Gohan > Trunks > (Insert Generic Name) > Boy Goku > People with Hair > Krillin

Seriously, Dragonball is infinitely better than everything. Not only was it a funner and more enjoyable show...but Master Roshi had better moments in it.

Plus Piccolo as a bad guy is better than every bad guy in Z and GT combined.

Goku as a boy is a lot better than him as an adult...at least he doesn't tend to get himself killed and spend 30 episodes training in a space ship. It's just lame that GT tried to make him a boy again and failed at it.

fixed

Dragonball was brilliant, mainly because people weren't so damn serious back then.
Goku was off-the-scales brilliant in beating everyone up just because they messed with his pals (and having the most hunger-inducing eating scenes in history in the process) while Roshi and his excercise videos were beyond legendary.
I mean where else are you gonna get characters like Oolong or Yajirobe or a villain with the awesomeness of Emperor Pilaf?

And it delivered on the serious stuff too: I think i've mentioned before how amazingly well done i thought Krillin's death was at the end of whichever number tournament it was by the - unknown then - Piccolo, and Goku v. Tien at the final is probably the best fight of the series for me.

Z started off nice and it had a lot of good points and great characters, but it just got to the point where people where so strong it was just ridiculous. Plus, there's only so many episodes of people staring at each other and powering up you can take.

It's very interesting to think about how - as Blasko said - while it was Z that really multiplied the fame and popularity of anime, it was really Dragonball that most people started with and then stuck to Z and most admit to it being the better series in terms of the anime alone.

It'd be interesting to hear from someone who's gone through the whole manga where i believe there is no distiction between original and Z, whether the pace changes as significantly as it does for the anime or if it's a more gradual transition, and how Z feels without the endless stalling.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

I don't even connect the GT series with DB and DBZ. Especially because all of it wasn't done under Akira Toriyama. All that those series could do right in keeping fans happy, the show got all wrong. A waste really.

EDIT: Master Roshi did have some sweet moments in DBZ. Motorboating Andriod 18's boobs and grabbing Bulma's butt were epic as always. It's just that the awesome comedy from him sadly wasn't focused on as much as it was for DB (and btw, if I haven't said yet is the best show of the series).

How can we forget the incredible Jackie Chung arc?

Who cares?

Haven't gone through the whole Manga series (do not intend to either) but I do have one volume that was given to me, and covers a piece of the Frieza arc. If my memory serves me, it had far, far less stand downs in comparison to the Anime episodes covering this particular volume.

I can. But that is because I never seen much of DB until the saga of when Tien just showed up.

EDIT AGAIN: To those who rep me thinking I never saw any DB episodes up until then. I said much, not any.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

I am finally catching up on Bleach. I downloaded 154 (last episode I seen) to 202, this afternoon.

I can't wait until episode 166. A battle that people claim to be better than Ichigo/Byakuya, OTAKU!

Goku vs. Jackie Chung is great you missed out. Up to episode nine of Yu Yu Hakusho! Its cool. Start of it was okay but it got better after they made Yusuke become Spirit Detective.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

Those are just the introductory episodes, right ? Genkai Tourney is kind of good but SO unnecessary, considering that the Dark Tournament is not that far away.
