Death Note, were amazing. I love them.
So if there's anything out there similar to Ergo Proxy or Death Note, I'd like to see it

Elfen Lied, Code Geass and Monster just to name a few that come to mind.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
Anybody share my love for Full Metal Alchemist?
Kenshin was the first anime that hooked me. DBZ has a pretty awesome plotline but it drags way too much
DB though is another story

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
I think Full Metal Alchemist is a show meant for anyone really. I actually enjoy the show and it is one of my favorites.
The first show that was first introduced to anime was Speed Racer.
Then eventually what actually got me into anime was Ninja Scroll and DBZ.

I think Rurouni Kenshin stayed consistently great. If we use the literal definition, then Death Note, FMA, Case Closed, Fist of the North Star, Trigun, YuYu Hakusho, and I know a lot here would say NGE, Eureka Seven, Azumanga Daioh, and Blood+.

Yeah i know shounen is a demographic, i was talking about shounen as in lol power levels shounen, you know? The kenshin anime was shit house, manga was awesome though

Re: Anime Discussion Thread
The scripts for Full-Metal are often amazing. They utilize their entire 22 minutes so well unlike a lot of others, which constitute 20 minute staredowns

*Stares at you for 20 minutes*
HOW ACCURATE YOU ARE!
FMA is worth watching simply because Hughes' little girl is SO ADORABLE

Had the same thing with Monster. It's really good for a few eps, then just sort of plods along up to 20-30, really picks up speed sometime after 40 (if i remember correctly) and never lets go after that.
The best part of the series is probably the ep. where you first hear the full story of the "Monster With No Name"...somehow, everything just ties up together and all the little stylistic touches - like the creepy end credits - make so much sense.
Think it's around 40 somewhere, but not sure where...
