Re: Anime Discussion Thread

I'll be honest, there is no villain that touches Legato (Trigun), Harry MacDowell (Gungrave), Alexander Anderson (Hellsing), Vicious (Cowboy Bebop), Shishio Makoto (Rurouni Kenshin), Folken (Vision of Escaflowne), Darcia (Wolf's Rain), and L (Death Note).

Actually, in terms of Death Note, L is the bad guy, since the series is heavily based on Light's point of view of the world. But that really shows you how annoying Death Note is, the bad guy is actually a good guy, but is the bad guy in the good guy's eyes, regardless of the fact the good guy is actually the bad guy!

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

L dared to stand in the way of a God. He tried to stop Light's New World. A world where justice and peace reigned and there was no crime, murder, etc. Light was doing us a FAVOR.

What doesn't scream "bad guy" there.

Haven't we had this conversation before Sephi...?

The fact that i was mad that the "bad guy" was beat shows you how amazing the storytelling was in Death Note...

Yeah, the word is "intense". How many times can you guys remember Light and L going at it thinking what the other one would do and how he'd react to something until they figure it out, you think you now know who'll get the upper hand, and then the other pulls a swerve on him and leaves you speechless?
Seriously, i'd put Death Note's writing - especially up to L's departure - up there with Good LOST and 1st Season Prison Break

Light was killing people. Criminals yes, but killing nontheless, and he also got carried away from his devine punishment scheme into the whole "becoming God" thingy half way through. Also, he was the main protagonist.
L was out to stop him. Technically good, but he was out to get the main protagonist, hence "bad".

I think that was one of the biggest things Death Note had going.
The whole conflict where you didn't have the clear definition of who was good and who was bad like you do in so many other series.
Deja Vu...trippy...think i just saw Daizee Haze walk (trip?) by...

light is a a kid to smart for his own good with to much power, who is a genocidal, egotistical, maniac i haven't seen out side old school comic books in some time

L was doing is job as detective, bringing a mass murderer [quite a few of his victims innocent by the way] to justice
