Re: Anime Discussion Thread

I loved the baseball episode of Champloo. It was hilarious hearing the Americans shout out "Hey fuck you!" in english. I rofl'd hard.

It's a Romeo and Juliet-like story. Didn't like it tbh. The storyline was very predictable, the battles repetitive, characters one-dimensional and Oboro has to be one of the most annoying characters ever (next to Raki in Claymore). It was pretty to look at though which was all it really had going for it.

Thanks. In that case, can you reccomend something similar to Kenshin or Yu-Yu Hakusho ?

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

Ehhhhhhh on second thought if you do enjoy stuff like Kenshin then you may like Basilisk too. Try giving the first few episodes a watch and see for yourself whether you like it or not.

If you haven't seen the Ninja Scroll movie yet, you might want to give that a watch as well.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

I'm almost through with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and it's a pretty good one, I lol'd quite a few times. Thanks Seph

Has anyone else been extremely bored with Bleach lately? This filler so far has been terrible. I can't wait till they get back to Hueco Mundo

"The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" is bloody brilliant!
Only watched two eps thus far, but it's allready one of the funniest, most fun things i've ever watched.
First ep was Epic with the ironic commentary and everything!

Thanks for the heads-up Sephi.

Bleach:
Meh, it's just filler.
Has its fair share of trademark Bleach RANDOM~! comedy to keep me going, but story-wise it's a stalemate.
I'm not one of those people to moan for hours on end about manga canon and the like, but Ichigo being shown so weak just so they can pull off the story is pretty funny in a bad way.
Shinigami Golden have been stellar lately though

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

Finished "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" a while ago, and it was a delight...very, very, very good series. Tons of laughs, great characters, unique structure...can't wait for the second season.

Since then, i've also blasted through "Beck" in about a week or so.
Really good series this, and i was particularly impressed with the voice acting. They really went out of their way to get proper english accents for all the foreigners, and believable "modified" accents for Ray and Maho.
That being said, that annoying/highly ammusing "Engrish" grammar did creep up occasionaly, especially in the songs.
Kinda hard to believe Ray would make such horrible grammar mistakes in "Face", unless he kept them in for the whole "Engrish is cool in Japan" thingy...meh, minor details really.

Now, as you've probably realised, i've got lots of spare time. That's mainly because Uni is over (has been for a while) but i can't fly back home until halfway through next week because i've got the NOAH show this weekend, so in order to fill said time i need more recommendations for anime series.
Anyone got any really good ones they might want to share? Preferably complete stuff at 1-2 seasons.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread

Hey otaku geeks, this thread needs some new life.

So what is everyone's favorite anime show/movie openings?

Besides Fullmetal Alchemist's 4th ending, this has to be the greatest thing ever...
