The Webhead’s first solo adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe now officially has its title, as Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” prepares to swing into theaters July 7, 2017!

Sony made the announcement tonight at CinemaCon, giving a title to Spidey’s upcoming saga directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.

Before that, though, catch Spider-Man’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” in theaters May 6, and stay tuned to Marvel.com for the latest on your Friendly Neighborhood Wallcrawler!

It has been confirmed that Tom Holland will be playing the role of Spiderman in the upcoming film.

Sony and Marvel have decided that Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley will be working on the script while the job of directing the movie has been given to John Watts. Daley and Goldstein are known for their top-notch work and by the looks of it, Spiderman is set to have a great script.

Marvel is going to make Spiderman an important part of their Cinematic Universe and Kevin Feige has reported that Marvel is going all out to make sure that Spiderman is given a completely new look so that he can be a part of the Avengers.

The new Spiderman will be first seen in Captain America: Civil War. The story line from this upcoming Marvel film will carry on to the upcoming Spiderman film and fans will get a glimpse of Spiderman as he is preparing to be a superhero in the film.

According to IGN, Denis Leary said that there were some wild and interesting ideas that were being contemplated on while deciding on the plot for the next Spiderman film. How do you take the same old plot and make it different.

Leary said at the recently held San Diego Comic-Con that there was a plot angle where it was thought that Spiderman could use some power to bring the dead back from the past. Peter Parker has lost quite a few loved ones in his life, his parents, his uncle Ben, Gwen and Captain Stacy.

This angle of bringing the dead back would have given Captain Stacy an opportunity to come back stronger, but then they decided to stick to the regular story and view it from a different angle.

so what do you guys think? excited? is this constant rebooting of the franchise getting out of hand? for me it's a 2 sided sword. Spiderman is my second favorite superhero of all time and i'm happy if he gets a proper movie, but at the same time this will be the 6th Spiderman movie in the last 12 years and the third time they reboot it. i'm just about burned out on Spiderman movies but i'll wait and see what comes of it

i'm not very thrilled that they're making him just so he can exist in another Avengers movie tho

Sam Weir is writing the script? I'd rather him play Peter than this 10 year old fuccboi.

The 2 new spiderman films are so forgettable that it will just seem like this is the 2nd reboot to be fair.

This is great. Spider-man belongs in the Marvel Universe of films. I am a fan of the various incarnations of Spider-man, including the teenage, Ultimate version. Yes, the actor looks young, but the Ultimate Spider-man character was only 15 or 16 years old and it really worked for me. I have every faith that this will be great. Now if there were only a way to get Wolverine from Fox and some of the Fantastic Four brand, everything would be nearly perfect.

I just hope with rebooting it, they realize that the Goblin/Peter/Osbournes storyline should be a no-fly zone. It's been done twice now in a 10 year span. They're going to have to start with something new.

Judging by the actor, Peter vs. puberty would make a good first movie I guess.

Re: Spiderman getting rebooted again, Marvel picks it up

I understand why they're making him so young tbh. it's not only part of the canon like SHIV said but they can make multiple movies with the same actor without him looking too old in the sequels

He's called Spider-Man and wears a full mask so that his enemies don't know he's a "boy" thats 16 years old beating up guys in their 30's. Also, I think they confirmed that they aren't doing an origin story but he will be in high school again
