Your thoughts on shared movie universes?

Apparently they're doing one for old monsters and even Robin Hood(!) after the success of Avengers. After reading this article, what do you think?

I like it honestly. Creates the prospect of more franchises be open means more steady jobs for more actors

It does smack of a lack of originality but I get where you're coming from.

Re: Your thoughts on shared movie universes?

I like how in some movies one of the characters is just a supporting character but then later on that same character is the star of his own movie. Basically all of the main characters you'll eventually see a movie from their own perspective instead of the same guy in the franchise always being the lead character. Plus it gives you chance to see an actor play the same role in multiple movies. Samuel L. Jackson when he appears in Avengers: Age of Ultron that'll be the 8th time(if you count Agents of SHIELD) he has played Nick Fury.

Actually now that Star Wars is doing stand alone films you can argue that SW is now a shared universe.

X-Men also is a shared universe with Wolverine, Deadpool and Gambit getting their own movies.

One franchise (if it can be called that) is the Grimm Brother Tales remakes of Snow White & the Huntsman, Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters, Sleeping Beauty (helluva revamped plot-twister) Hansel and Gretel

and my fav variation of Hansel and Gretel

Wish there was a movie where the Justice League turn evil and takeover the world. With the power of the team, the world would be destroyed. Would be entertaining.

Don't mind it. Excites me a little for some of the crossover movies they could do like with the old Universal Monsters, Marvel Universe, DC Universe etc.

I do hate that they are rebooting the Universal Monsters.

Re: Your thoughts on shared movie universes?

If done right, I see no problem with it.

Marvel has done it right. It all just feels natural and flowing.

But, if forced and rushed, I imagine it would be a trainwreck. And too many of those could start to take away from what makes a well done shared universe so great.

Re: Your thoughts on shared movie universes?

I feel like this concept is now getting out of control. It makes sense for Comic Book Movies and Star Wars but now we're getting a Ghostbuster Universe I mean what's next? A shared universe between Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider, wait, that sounds awesome
