When Marvel's "Ant-Man" hits theaters July 17, 2015, director Peyton Reed will help shepherd the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cast led by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with writer Adam McKay contributing to the film's script.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

More to come.

Dang, hard to find directors who are on the same level as Wright, especially when approaching franchises like this.

Really looking forward to this though. The casting sounds brilliant.

This perhaps shouldn't be all that surprising. Wright has been attached to Ant Man since 2008 when the MCU was yet to be established. Now that a clear direction has been set, there may be less room for creativity since it all needs to be tied together.

I feel a bit disappointed by this, I was looking forward to see E. Wright work on this after his good work on Scott Pilgrim.

I was so pumped to see wrights vision of Antman. He is one hell of director and visionary. World end had some of coolest fight choreography and I wanted to see that carry over in Antman

Wright would never have been given full creative control anyway

Why would Ant-Man be a part of the MCU? It has light-hearted comedy written all over from the title alone, I doubt they'd shoehorn it in to their primary series at present.
