Ghostbusters II

Any here who like this movie and consider it underrated? It's always been among my favorite sequels and I'll always love both movies to death. The original is rightfully a beloved movie but the sequel gets a much less kind reception. I can understand people finding the original to be better and I'd never argue that, but the sequel I think is definitely unfairly maligned and hated on and deserves a lot more respect. I always enjoy the Hell out of this every time I see it and I find it has the same great balance of laughs and scares as the original, the main cast are all back and still have great chemistry, Vigo was a scary villain and I always felt the mood slime storyline was very creative. And throw in a lot of awesome scenes it has like the river of slime, the courtroom scene with the Scoleri Brothers and the walking Statue Of Liberty, it's hard for me not to enjoy this. I always watch both movies together because to me they feel so incomplete if one is watched on it's own. In a way I kind of don't even consider them seperate films, just a mini-series event broken down into two parts.

Both movies are among my all-time favorites and I always hate seeing the second one get bashed on, which happens a LOT from what I've seen. Granted I grew up with both movies and definitely have a strong nostalgic attachment to both, but while I won't argue GB2 has some flaws, I think the good definitely outweighs the bad and it's still a winner. Any others here who like it?

On a side note, hard to believe both movies will be 30 and 25 this year respectively, how time has flown. They seem so timeless.

Re: Ghostbusters II

I wouldn't say it was underrated, it wasn't THAT great of a movie, however, I do like it. Big Ghostbusters fan here, saw this one in the theater twice when I was 5 years old. Egon <3

Re: Ghostbusters II

It's underrated in the sense it gets a lot of hate.

Must've been fun to see in the theaters. I was only 2 when it came out, so sadly I didn't go. I grew up watching both of the movies non-stop and the cartoon series.

Re: Ghostbusters II

Always loved it. Sure it's not as good as the first one, but there is a lot of great stuff in it. Peter MacNicol was hilarious as Janosz. "Ah, ah... why am I drippings with goo?"

BLASPHEMY.

Love the film, it was one from my childhood. I actually like it more than the original. So sad that Harold Ramis passed.

Re: Ghostbusters II

Hey, I like the film! Just saying, it isn't a good enough movie to be considered overrated, imo, especially since the first one was generally better in the eyes of most people (mine included). It's hard for people to make that consideration when the first one was so GOAT.

Re: Ghostbusters II

Lackluster in comparison to the first. Highlight for me was the use of Jackie Wilson's Higher And Higher.

Same for me. I always watch them together, one feels incomplete without the other to me.

Re: Ghostbusters II

You know, its weird.

This movie commits almost every sin that I hate about sequels. It is a complete rehash of the first movie but with unsubstantial variables like a baby thrown in to make it seem different.

But damn, I just love the characters too much to hate the film.
