Re: Amazing Spider-Man 2 is awful
Havent seen it yet, it isnt out here stateside. I will give it the benefit of the doubt in that it cant be worse than SM3, or X3. I am of the sound belief that you will NEVER be able to make a superhero movie, and appease the superhero "fans." I know people that ripped The Dark Knight because Harvey Dent wasnt scarred in the courtroom, or that it was Dent and not Gordon that the Joker chose to fuck with by giving him "one bad day." These are the peopel you will NEVER satisfy.
Couple years ago, I asked my best friend if he wanted to go see "The Avengers." and his reply was "Iron Man 3? sure why not" Because RDJ was the most prominent guy in there. Yes Captain America was "good," but it wasnt awesome. Hell Iron Man 2 sucked, Thor sucked. The Hulk was good-ish, but it was mainly due to Norton, who was replaced. Iron Man was the best Marvel movie to hit at that point, and it was just "good" and not "great." So, we went into the Avengers with ZERO expectations, and it was an awesome movie. I had a blast. I didnt go in thinking it would be awesome, but I remember some net nerds were ripping it apart before it came out, and others were sucking it's dick. Same shit with this movie. Spiderman is THE biggest hero Marvel has, and for some reason, Sony has the rights to it. That doesnt mean it will always be inferior to Marvel movies, because Marvels track record isnt good at all, you have CA2:TWS > TA > IM > IM3 > the rest of the godawful shit that has been put out. So the problem isnt the peopel that have the rights, and it isnt entirely the fanboys, its more on the lines of idiot directing.
No one wants to do whats already been done. Wanna know why Nolan did The Joker? Because it hadnt been done in 20 years. His other choices? Scarecrow/Al Ghul/Bane have NEVER been done on the screen. Penguin/Riddler/Freeze were camped to hell. Look at SM now, Goblin has been done. Ock has been done. Venom has been done. Sandman has been done. New Goblin has been done. 5 villains, 3 movies, in the span of what 5 years? Reboot it 6 years later:
"Well, we need a new villain, but I dont want to do anything that Sam did, we want a refreshing new story" so we get The Lizard. "Ok, that worked, now what for the sequel?" "I dont know, what hasnt been done?" Electro....Rhino.....ok we're getting into shitty SPiderman villain territory now. Until directors realize that their ideas are usually gonna be stupid, and producers realize that they are NOT going to please all the source material faithful, then this shit is gonna happen in ever damned comic movie for the next 20 years
