Re: TDL VII: STREAKS ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN - THE RESULTS
Congrats to all the winners, and losers, on this card (seriously, I really found the collective level to be higher than normal all around - awesome to see that).
To WOOLCOCK and Seabs in particular - congratulations on a job truly well done gentlemen. I thought we were strong, so going down to those two debates is nothing I'm ashamed of. WOOLCOCK, I always expect great stuff from you (I like to think that I help bring the best out of you). Seabs, I thought you were a very, very good debater heading into this. That was a goddamn masterpiece though and made me re-evaluate your skills in an entirely new way - top notch shit.
If I do have any shame, however, it's that I let TLK down. I didn't want him to lose that aura of invincibility, so I'm sorry your first loss had to come this way (and unanimously, at that!). I think it's my fault, and I'll explain in the following statement to the judges:
My logic, as soon as the tag match was announced, was to purposely do opposing debates and HOPE that WOOLCOCK and Seabs chose the same side. I felt that whenever 2 debates are submitted arguing the same side, one is a winner and one is comparatively weaker. I also felt that having two very strong debates arguing AGAINST each other (thereby hopefully making them tougher to compare) would make them each appear stronger in the judges' eyes. Alas, my strategy caused confusion or general disenchantment amongst the judges. Great write-ups though.
Also, hey Crusade. Sorry about the mean things I said about you at the show. I wasn't feeling like myself that night. Good luck, looking forward to it!
