So yeah this has been coming for a while now but now feels like a good time to go on an extended hiatus for a bit. I'm in a bit of rush but those involved probably already know why. Too many of the top debaters now signed out, not enough quality Judges left and just generally not enough activity in the section as a whole to make me think this is still worth all the time and effort from everyone involved that goes into it. Anark had to sign out recently too which was obviously a big blow. We could keep on going but honestly it's not worth it imo with the interest and activity not as high as it once was. When it was high it was no problem for everyone including myself to put the time in. Now it's just not as exciting and frankly I'd rather spend the hours doing other things.
I'm not calling this curtain for good. Not right now anyway. I'm always open to a return but at the risk of sounding harsh to others it's dependent on certain names wanting to make a return to make a go of it again. Most likely scenario is maybe a few months from now we try and put together a one off supercard and see what happens from that. Perhaps, but again it's dependent on the right people wanting to be around for it to make it work.
This was super fun though while it was hot. I'd rather it be remembered that way than as something that got sad and felt like a chore to all involved. It probably goes without saying but a massive Thank You to everyone who ever participated in making this one of the best parts of the forum for many for the last couple of years. Everyone from @The Lady Killer and @i$e who got this up and running again with me to the greats such as @Andre @Anark @Clique @DDMac and @WOOLCOCK to the mainstays (read: midcard hell) like @CGS @Rugrat and @Devante Swing all the way down to the likes of @Yoda and @KILL V. Oxi who embarrassed themselves for our own amusement and then finally to the jobbers who always stuck around and didn't bitch and moan when Judges were bluntly honest about their debates like @TKOK and of course @Klunderbunker. A special Thank You to @CHAMPviaDQviaDQ for making all those unbelievable banners for us. And of course lets not forget TDL introducing guys like @MichaelDD and @Kobe (ZOMBO) to the rest of the forum. Even you @Tater.
I would be up for a supercard down the line, without question. I've had next to no time the past few months to put in the time necessary to make a worthwhile contribution, but I won't deny I was disappointed to read this development.
Ever since the return it's been one of the most consistent sections of the forum and it's been a privilege to be part of it. A few years ago I never knew of ZOMBO and then a short while later I was letting out a big fistpump when he scored the upset of the century at the time in usurping TLK.
A special mention as Seabs said to not only the gifted debaters who regularly turned out supreme quality entries that made it worthwhile to sit down and judge, but also those who struggled yet still gave it a go and made a contribution. Without you guys it could have descended into a magic circle very quickly and capitulated. You guys kept it going and I take my hat off to anyone who participated regardless of output.
And while the road has been rather rocky for me and I failed to reach my full potential on numerous occasions, I enjoyed the ride. The whole "I beat myself" campaign that led to the creation of my very own championship. The struggle to get out of midcard hell and the giant flop every time I came close to escaping it. The rivalry with @Rugrat. And, while in a losing effort, my greatest performance: a split decision loss to @Seabs.
It's been an amazing journey and I hope to relive it once again. To my fellow competitors, judges and everyone involved: THANK YOU. Thank you for making this a desirable section of the forum, away from the trolls and mark wars that plague the wrestling sections. Thank you for the wins, the losses, the promos, the name change stipulations (that I didn't abide by), the good times, the bad times. Thank you for all of your work and giving me the opportunity to be apart of something special.
TDL will always have a special place in my heart and for old times sake, that's ON FIG!!!
@GothicBohemian I think Sami Zayn (Green Day Edge Head) was a more regular female debater, not that it devalues the sentiment in your post. I remember you beating i$e on the first card and that being a big deal. Crazy to think that was nearly three years ago...

Thank you everyone for all the time and effort expended in TDL.
I wasn't an active TDL member in the strictest sense - my participation began and ended with submitting the occasional debate - but I was on board from the beginning and appreciate what you folks created. My off-topic meandering wordiness may not have been champion material but I do think I was the most consistently active female debater, so that's what I'll claim as my role.
I know this has been a much loved section for many of you, somewhere friendships grew and a place where sometimes unexpected talent appeared, and that it will be missed. Much love guys, and I've no doubt TDL will return when the time is right.
EDIT: Ok, second most active - I forgot Sami Zayn didn't take breaks like me. Sorry!
Well this was sad news to see when I ventured over to this section today! As soon as I stumbled onto this section by accident one day, I thought it was incredible. Such a great idea, and I really wish it was something I'd found years ago when it first started and was hot, as it sounds like you guys had a blast. Thanks Seabs for all of the effort you put into every single card, and even making the effort to communicate with us little guys and making us feel welcome when we first join. You're a class act and the main reason this was so enjoyable.
You can definitely count me in for a supercard or revival of this section whenever that comes about, and I hope that one day soon it does.
Meh, good for Anark and Seabs - way to go out on top. I'd have crushed either of you in a debate with a straight-forward question, but I think you both know that
I'm pissed.I mean I joined TDL a couple of months ago and I was really enjoying the experience only to have it stopped now.I completely understand the effort it takes to run this nice place, but I'm really sad to see it go away.Thank you Seabs!
Anark signs out, TDL dies. Shit, I really was the greatest after all. I just thought I was up there, you know, but damn.
Feels kinda good to have my GOAT status confirmed, but still a sad day. I did make it clear my own hiatus wasn't forever and I was planning on returning at some point, so I have to say that this is a pretty drastic attempt at avoiding debating me, @Seabs.
I've said it privately already, but why not repeat it here? TDL was an unmitigated success. TDL was the best part of this forum. TDL introduced me to all of you, many of whom are my best friends on this place. Why was TDL all of these things? Seabs. Seabs' unrelenting effort, the hours that went into this thing, the judging, the organizing, the posting, etc.
I've only had a small taste having to post a card, or do a couple of the things that go into making a show a success, and it took me hours! Yet this magnificent bastard provided all of that for us, voluntarily, for forty (40!!) freaking shows. Excellent work, and certainly something that we can revisit hopefully in the future sometime. But still, one hell of an achievement, especially as real life caught up to certain individuals who were very important both behind the scenes and on the cards.
To all of the judges since day 1, for putting in your personal time as well, to give feedback on matches that ranged from the main event to the frustrating curtain jerkers, I thank you all as well. Even you, MrMister. (Hello.)
To all the debaters, who spent time crafting entries, researching, and WORKING to improve, thank you guys as well. Without debates, there isn't anything to judge. And I respect the hell out of anyone who gave TDL a good, honest shot. It takes some balls (even for the female debaters) to put your own work / writing out there to be critiqued by 3 strangers on the internet, and then posted publicly for everyone else to see. I have always respected that aspect of TDL, regardless of anyone's skill level.
Thanks to EVERYONE who participated in this. It was a really fun time while it lasted. That even includes:
The bickering (moaning about judging, Tater in general, Anark vs abbreviations)
Silliness (Michael DD's debut, TLK taking forever to make his draft picks in the chat box for captain wars, my worked shoot heel turn, RR's wacky ideas, Pat's delusions, Klunderblunker and Yes.Yes debates, Oxi's flip flop debates, judging burials :side
Genuinely awesome moments (Zombo beating TLK the first time, Mac's rare but outstanding appearances, RAB's redemption, Magic's upsets)
ALL of that helped to keep the section hot at times when it otherwise would have been boring.
Most importantly, thank you Seabs for taking out a lot of your personal free time to run this. Absolutely no way this would have reached 40 shows without all of your time and effort
:clap :clap :clap
Personally, my favourite 'era' of TDL was in spring 2014, when the cards were stacked with quality debaters and dream matches. That included my best match and debate vs WOOLCOCK too. Great times.
Hopefully we can all have ONE MORE MATCH in the distant future...
I was the defender of abbreviations fyi. @Seabs the Oppressor was the one fighting against them. It was a fight in which he fought hard and with everything he had, but got choked out like the five foot six underweight wonderful Irish bastard he is.
This is the most pathetic sight I've ever seen tbh. Seabs putting TDL in the fire just so his taunts about wanting to debate me after I officially retired don't come back to bite his cowardist arse.
+ 1 to all the above, without question this is the best feature of any forum i've been on. real shame that its ending for now but the fact this ran for like 3 years and made over 40 shows is utterly remarkable. massive thanks to seabs for putting in so much effort to run this and also to every single judge and person who wrote a debate. so disappointed that i just got busy irl recently and had to drop out.
i'd definitely be down for taking part in a one off supercard down the line tho.
This was always the best. Everyone involved was the top shit. But no one touched Seabs. GOAT. I'm sorry I botched my return a while back, but I'm definitely up for a one-off return if the opportunity presents itself. Most fun I've had on this forum was the fantasy drafting and right here in TDL. Will be missed. Special shout out to The Lady Killer who gave me a nice little feud and let me talk some smack in good fun. Didn't pull off the win, but losing to the Legend is always an honour.
Shame that this died, would have loved to participate. And win. Seems like a lot of the guys on here were over hyped and could be beaten had everybody not been so enamoured with them.
Oh well.
