Re: TDL X: STACKED - THE CARD

currently 680 words into my debate and barely scratched the surface, editing is gonna be a BITCH, feel like Im maybe a third of the way through tops, had like 6 different directions I wanted it to go in but I see now Im gonna have to get it down to 1 or 2.

I know it depends on topic but anyone else suffer this prolix problem? having to keep thinking of cuts and skimming over important points without compromising the flow of the piece.

Definitely. Last debate my first draft was like 1500+ words. Editing totally sucks.

My drafts usually need cutting in half. Generally, if you that problem then you have a good debate.

Re: TDL X: STACKED - THE CARD

yeah its def better to need cuts rather than just putting shit in to fatten it up alright, plus a consolation is the average blarg music or movie post is like a 10k word persuasive essay anyway so Im sure he's got some torturous cutting to do too.

My other big problem is I just cant research old MTV without getting derailed into watching hours of classic 80s pop vids, its not really a problem tbh

Re: TDL X: STACKED - THE CARD

Got sidetracked this weekend so I got fuck all started. I have a direction for where I want to take it, so i'll work on it sometime before the deadline and hopefully come up with something decent. My only issue is how i'll manage to find a nice middle ground between ranting and structured persuasion which is inevitably a line i'll have to toe with our topic.

I have a ways to go before Masterdebating with the best of 'em.

Not appreciating the lack of respect that you think you can wing a debate out of your arse and leave me in the dust.

Re: TDL X: STACKED - THE CARD

I usually end up a hundred or so words over. Don't need to edit a whole lot when the first draft comes out golden.

Re: TDL X: STACKED - THE CARD

Surprisingly I didn't make any edits to get under the word limit. I typed mine out at 900 plus words and was totally fine with it's result.
