There were no spoilers until the internet and even then, they weren't as rampant as they are now.

There seem to be a lot of people who a) don't remember because they were too young, b) weren't watching wrestling at the time or c) weren't aware of wrestling websites at the time all replying, i.e. completely fucking pointless replies, so here I am to tell you what it as like.

YES, there were spoilers. Rajah could tell you on a Tuesday night what the Raw taping held for next week's show, and the news sites like 1wrestling, 4wrestling and tpww were full of the rumours of future cards, departures and arrivals, plenty of which came true. If you reading them, you knew Bret Hart was leaving the WWF prior to Survivor Series '97, for instance. You knew Jericho or Taz or Benoit and his boys or Raven were coming in. It wasn't much different to how it is now in that respect.

LOL @ this thread. Eric Bischoff gave spoilers on TELEVSION on Nitro before RAW even aired.

The internet had way more websites back then are guys serious about it being bigger now?

The Tuesday on the net had both WCW and WWF fans on forums such as Solie's Vintage Wrestling, John Petrie MOnday recaps, Scoops Wrestling, News from Dayton, and more.

If anything the WWF has monopolized the IWC just as it did the wrestling industry in that it made their website and social media to drown out the "territorial" sites.

That's the dumbest thing I've read today. WWE executes it's own promotional strategies using the channels available and I doubt they give a shit what other websites people use to read wrestling news - which there are a myriad of.

"The WWF" doesn't exist anymore unless you're talking pandas, or the past. Quit living in the past, man.

There was spoilers for taped matches during the Attitude and nWo/WCW era. You had to go to a site like rajah.com or 411mania.com (or whatever that site was called).

RAW would be live one week, then the next week's RAW would be taped the night after. So usually you could wake up Wednesday and find spoilers for next week's RAW. Smackdown was usually taped, if I remember right, and you could find spoilers for that as well.

You could find the taped WCW spoilers, too.
