Thanks for the footage. Still don't see why this event was a big deal given that it was a house show in front of a smarky audience. Really lame to overreact and call attention to it.

And seeing then-irrelevant Hunter throwing himself in there with the big boys was gross to see. An ass-kisser of the highest order.

Hunter was part of the kilq. And the Curtain Call is the reason Undertaker gained respect for the HHH.
Because Nash and Hall were leaving they didnt get any heat. Shawn Michaels was too popular too get punished by Mcmahon. So HHH who was going to be a contender for the Heavyweight championship was punished and basically forced to job to midcarders.. Undertaker said he didnt complain about it either so he gained respect for him. And madison square garden is huge so it wouldnt have been just a regular house show.

HHH was probably told by Vince he'd get a bigger push after it was all over, if what the guys are saying is true, as far as Vince initially giving them the ok to do that.

I could see Vince telling HHH he'd have to "punish" him due to the boys being upset, but everything would work itself out in the end. This would explain why Shawn didn't step in and use his pull to try to save Hunter.

It's not like this is anything new with Vince. He "fired" British Bulldog after Warrior was caught getting steroids, and it came out that he got the name of the source from Bulldog. Meanwhile, Vince privately told Bulldog and his wife that he was just "punishing" him for publicity reasons, and would bring him back once things blew over. He did.

Hunter kissed ass to get into the Kliq, literally carrying bags. And it was a regular house show - the vast majority of their audience never had to know about it.

You aren't filling anyone in with your line about HHH being punished for it and why. It's common knowledge.

Hunter was good friends with Nash because they both had a hefty work out schedules so they go to gyms together. while Shawn and Hall didnt pull weights as hard as they did. And they loved Hunter because Hunter didnt do drugs or drink so they would have him as the designated driver when they'd party. You can say he kissed ass to get in Kliq. But COMMON KNOWLEDGE is knowing that all newbies are kissing the big guys asses one way or another. Its just the fucking nature of the business.

And Vince gave it the okay but didnt expect anyone to take a camera in and film it. Many guys still were big in kayfabe so it was a massive deal back then. I'm sure if Cena turned heel at a houseshow in one of the smallest town in the US it would be a big deal.

I guess timing is everything. It was kind of taboo to do something like that at the time. It wouldn't be a big deal today. Times have changed. The best part of that video is the kid screaming. Haha.

Thank God it happened.

Hunter being pushed hard at the expense of Austin could have been catastrophic.

I never really knew why it was SUCH a big deal. Seems like 2 guys saying goodbye to their friends, pandering to the crowd and sending them home happy.

I've read people were that furious they wanted to rush the ring. Who really gives a shit? Let them have their moment, and move on.

I mean, I've always known and agreed with the punishment and whatever, but 15 years after the fact, what was it really? The only thing I could say is that people disliked them so much they used this as fodder.

People saying it was still kayfabe back then, no it wasn't, and if they were that engrossed in kayfabe, what were they doing playing baseball against firemen or other stuff they did.

I read about this for YEARS before I seen it. It had got to the point where in my head they were in the ring, and you could literally see guys being held back on their way to the ring.
