Fall Brawl 96 Tag Team Match

Just watching the tag match from Fall Brawl 96. Macho and Hall vs Ddp and Lex. Just thinking how insanely opposite all 4 guys lives have went. Macho has passed. Luger had that stroke has found god and is living a whole new life. Ddp is transforming peoples lives. Scott is one of those people. From almost dead to getting his life back now with the help of Ddp. Just thinking how crazy life is.

Luger finding god is about as phony as Shawn Michaels finding god. They are both trying to hide from their past and having to deal with it.

I agree to a certain degree. Shawn is one of my favorite wrestlers, ever, but I still get the sense that his Christianity is all bullshit for the reason you stated. Lex though, he seems like a genuinely nice and changed fellow. Sure, I get these feelings from watching a TV, and not knowing them personally.

Re: Fall Brawl 96 Tag Team Match

I can say that Luger's whole aura strikes me as genuine now. Usually I'm skeptical, but I believe it. The man had a diagnosis of being completely paralyzed from the neck down. If that doesn't change you and scare you, I don't know what will.

His whole demeanor just seems authentic to me, and he admits a lot of things people didn't know (I didn't even realize he was still married and cheating on his wife with Elizabeth...that got lost in the whole brouhaha. His wife divorced him because of it).

Sting says it's a 180 degree turn, and that probably means a lot coming from him, since Sting was the one trying to get him to turn to Christianity.

I guess most importantly, he just strikes me as completely humble & unguarded...I don't get the snake oil vibe from him at all.

I wouldn't say that Michaels' Christianity is bs. I believe that he really believes it. But I don't get the same total authenticity vibe as I get from Luger. Maybe it's because Michaels' demeanor seems exactly the same as it's always been to me...it's just that the words that are different.

I also find him to be so glassy eyed that I often wonder if he's still abusing prescription pills (I know he says that he kicked that, but I wonder). Not to say that that doesn't mean that he's not still generally authentic (pills are a tough habit to kick, even if you mean well, and are trying to do the right thing), but it contributes to me feeling like his aura hasn't changed much.

Who really knows, though.
