He might've had his main event push delayed for two years because of it but it's not like he was wrestling on Shotgun Saturday Night every week.

He had it in his mind that because he was HBK's luggage handler that he was going straight to the main event after a year. He wasn't even remotely close to being ready and their program would've been awful.

Triple H never said it.

He said that it wasn't like sometime after it he was called to the office and was told that he's not buried anymore.

Therefore... He was buried until October.

Honestly it was probably a good thing for HHH that he didn't get pushed to the main event till 1999, he probably would've failed in 1997. Him being 2nd banana to HBK he was able to be a part of DX with Shawn and then when Shawn got hurt he got the chance to take over the stable. And he was able to work several matches with Mankind and The Rock in some really good ladder and cage type matches that prepared him for the main event prior to going all the way to the top.

That has got to be Kane.

Triple H really did get the shit-end of the stick with the whole curtain call thing. The horrible thing is supposedly Vince was okay with it (to a certain degree), but it was all of the douchebag stooges (one being Bruch Pritchard) who were in Vince's ear about how it was such an insult to the business. Which is ridiculous considering it was on a freakin' house-show and therefore wouldn't air. But everything happens for a reason and it worked out for all of them, so, whatever.

As long as he got to do the "Stone Cold" character, Austin would've still been the top star with or without King of the Ring. May not have had the Austin 3:16 catchphrase, so the WWF might have lost out on some good t-shirt sales.

And what's wrong with Vader losing to Kane dominantly? I could see if he was losing to one of the New NWA guys or an Ahmed Johnson dominantly but he was losing to a guy who was booked as dominant.

Big difference here. Once again, HHH lost out on a potential super push (regardless, he got it but that ain't the point). Vader didn't lose out on anything promised during his WWE run other than a 2 month title reign.

I understand you saying HHH wasn't buried but instead, saying Vader was, makes no sense. Especially when you use the logic that because HHH became IC Champion later that year, as if you're supposed to have a certain amount of time without a belt to be considered buried. Bottom line, HHH missed out on a potential defining moment, Vader didn't.

I'd understand better if you refuted HHH's burial story with a burial of someone who actually was planned for a big push, instead of using a guy many feel deserved a big push, regardless of if he actually did.
Very late on this reply lol. But I'm saying wwe likes to tell this story how he was suppose to get the kotr and it went to Austin along with them saying he had to start at the bottom of the card( it's on his first wwe DVD where they say this) and granted he was opening ppvs vs Godwin but he still got fueds and all is my point if wwe wanted to burry him or burry him as they paint this picture we would of forgot he was on the roster

And maby Vader is a bad example but I use him cause he was suppose to be their top heel and he had little success getting big time opponents. Ironically Drew Mcintyer may be the best expample to use I just tried to use some one with in that time frame.

Re: Can WWE & HHH stop making it seem he was demoted to jobber after Hall and Nash le

It's easy to say he wasn't buried when he bounced back and became one of the most notable names in Wrestling history - but imagine if DX never came around for him and he fizzled out as a nobody. You could be here in 2013 saying "Anyone remember that Blue Blood Hunter Hearst Helmsley guy? They buried him after the curtain call incident when he had huge potential!"

Given he was Shawn's pal though and was taking the punishment as the only guy available that could actually take the wrap for the incident - I doubt it was ever meant to truly hold him down, just teach him a lesson (wasn't he IC Champion like half a year later?).

And I do believe there's a Taker quote where he said how much of a selfish guy HHH seemed when he came in, but then he got punished for the MSG thing and took it like a man rather than whinging or complaining and earned some respect for it.

Vader on the other hand had flopped and was leaving, so it was standard Vince operating procedure to make him look horrible on his way to pastures new, that IS a true burial. Not a procedure he stuck to with Hall and Nash so much, but then we know why that is.
