Dude. I remember when I started, as a young child, in the early 90's, I thought it was real. When someone told me it wasn't, I denied it. Then I asked my dad. And like the father he is, he broke it down eloquently. From then on? I knew it was "fake" but I still watched as "real". Up until about 16/17. From then, I just look at it as "these guys are leaving everything they have out there in the ring, even if it is STAGED"

But yeah today kids find out it's fake the minute after the first show they watch. You have to go at least... a few years as a kid thinking it's real to become a fan who will stick with the product even afterwards.

Yes, Im sure you know this for a fact. asking every single kid. no no im sure things were way more believable in the 90s when we had people giving birth to hands, satanic cults, hockey wrestlers, plumber wrestlers and people openly breaking kayfabe

waah waaah, everything was better when i was younger

waah waaaaah

I'm not sure I see the point of this thread. Exposing wrestling for what it is was the best thing possible from a fan's perspective. Sure, some of the mystique is gone but that would've dissolved eventually anyway with the litany of terrible & outlandish gimmicks we've seen over the last 20 years. Attacking heels in the 80s because you thought it was real is ridiculous enough but confronting a bad guy at the airport in 2013 is a laughable concept.

Matches back then were worked more realistic. You didn't have guys trying to do a bunch of cute movez that required a ton of help from their opponent. Plus workers back then knew how to throw a decent punch. Ironically enough one of my favs Flair was the guy who exposed the buissnes to me with his spot calling.

Yea... we know that but of course it was natural back then that people thought it was real the guys lived their gimmick and internet was accessible in the past.

I knew the first time I watched as a kid that it was fake and have always enjoyed it I've been a fan since 97 so you don't ever have to think it's real at all just take it for what it is.
