Honestly, I think this is my favourite period in wrestling history. Every Nitro was superb from top to bottom. Constant excitement, thrills and comedy. It was pure unadulterated Russo magic.

the powers that be parts.

Some parts of it were very good. the build for Hart/Goldberg was extremley well done. But then that January he lost Hart to injury, Beniot, Douglass, Eddie G, Malenko when you lose 6 of basically the core of your show at the same time your always going to struggle to recover.

Wrestlemania 30 was awesome

3 Axxess events
Hogan VIP
Flair VIP
Wrestlecon session 1
Hall Of Fame Section 113 Row 11 Seat 1
Wrestlemania Section 140 Row 20 Seat 14.
Monday Night Raw Section 123 Row 16 seat 6

It was ridiculous. Most matches didn't even take 3 minutes (I'm not exaggerating), everyone that wasn't in the ME got shitty comedy gimmicks (Buzzkill, Prince Iaukea, Chavo, etc.), not a single match ended clean, swerves that didn't make any sense, etc.

The only good thing was 'screaming' Norman Smiley.

Oh, and Sullivan was booking when Benoit, and the others left.

Re: Anyone else a fan of Russo Era 1.0 in WCW? (Oct '99 - Jan '00)

Some of it was ok and the ideas were solid, but 3 hours of unfiltered Russo/Ferrara started to grate.

Pros
The likes of Brad Armstrong and Norman Smiley direction.
The Powers That Be was an intresting new spin on the heel boss.
Chris Benoit, Jeff Jarrett, Meng, Vampiro were pushed.
The pieces were put in place for a Booker T push/awaited feud with his brother.
Goldberg got pushed to the forefront
Bret Hart became a world champion again, in Canada. That was a nice touch and 'The Hitman' of all people has no reason to criticize Russo as much as he does.
Smart move to turn Sting and Sid face.
Effort put into Thunder.

Cons
Matches were overbooked with too many ref bumps, distractions and weapons.
Matches never lasted long enough.
Another NWO
Felt too much like an Attitude Era ripoff.
Needlessly killing off the cruiserweight division.
Xenophobia and misogyny galore.
Starrcade was one of the worst PPVs ever.
Way too much 'shooting', to the point they were admitting it's fake every week.
Pissing on the retirement stipulation, with Nash and Hennig returning so quickly.
The invisible camera coming to WCW.

Had there been a filter it would have given WWE a run for its money.

I haven't seen enough to comment. Just a few episodes of Nitro.

I didn't like that they split up nWo in two factions. It was difficult to understand everyone motive, who is with who and so on.

I didn't like the endless backstage brawls.

I didn't like the focus on the stables. With the long backstage segments

One reason why WWF's crash tv was so successful was because WWF had intimidating wrestlers like Stone Cold, Kane, Mankind. That worked wonder with Russo's writing. When Russo did his crash tv with Steve Nash and Ric Flair and Lex Luger it was a mismatch. To me it was like the wrong characters in the wrong storylines...

The nWo split was in 1998, before Russo.

That was in 1998 when Russo still was in WWF.

Ok sorry. Russo still choose to run with it though. It seemed like he put focus on all the stables, as much as he could.

No, he had the nWo 2000.

they had new names and members but it was still two stables and then it was almost 3? I still have the same criticism. It was difficult to follow and understand what everyone was doing in all these stables.
