I used to check the headlines on teletext advertising a hotline, with like "SHAMROCK RETURNING FOR WM!?" Haha, I never did though, my parents wouldn't have been happy. My Mum let me use her mobile to ring the Power Slam once and it took all of her credit before I got anywhere.
How much the WCW/WWF hotlines cost back in the day?

I think I'm in the same boat here, I called them a few times and my mom got pretty mad at me when she saw the phone bill. I remember they used to advertise them like crazy on WCW Saturday Night.

LOL ^, Billionaire Ted and The Nacho Man.
I always wanted to call the hotlines, because Mean Gene made them sound so good! But seriously, X-Caliber? Never heard that one, and I'm kinda pissed that I'm hearing it now. That would have been completely awful. X-Pac and X-Caliber...
Re: Did anyone ever call them WCW hotlines back in the day?
I called it once in the mid-90's to hear an Ultimate Warrior rumor but I got nowhere with it because I was young and didn't know what the hell I was doing. Only thing I got accomplished was running up the phone bill. Thankfully there really wasn't any need to call it by the late 90's since you could just find transcripts of it on the internet.

LOL I'm watching older RAWs now and they advertise the hell out of them. I never called any of WCW/WWF/ECW hotlines, however, every Tuesday the Washington Post would had a FREE wrestling news recording that I would call. It gave results and commentary for about 15-20 mins. This was in the early 2000s though.

I called one time, and quickly (sort of, maybe should have been quicker) realized what a scam it was. It was a recording of Okerlund and he would intentionally stammer and pause to make the call go on and on without actually getting to the point. I hung up without finding anything out and it still cost like 10 bucks on my phone bill back then for basically nothing.
