RAW

Triple H/King Lawler VS Goldust/Marc Mero
- Man! I just remembered why I used to be a big Goldust mark, great ring work and everything he do in the ring tells a story.
- Mero was the weakest link on that ring he have the charisma of a pile of bricks.
- What stands out the most in this match is how each wrestler had a different style on the ring maybe due to the different backgrounds and this makes a huge difference, not like today's wrestler who all feel the same in the ring.

Sid Promo
- I always heard how Sid is very limited on the mic, but I found this promo to be a very good promo, this guy is intimidating.

Shawn Michaels Invterview
- Meh, Shawn Michales mic skills improved a lot since those days.
- What is Road Dogg doing standing next to Shawn? was he wrestling those days or what?

Rocky Maivia VS Bulldog
- I don't know if Bret Hart compliments to The Rock were just scripted or was it really his opinion, he was so high on him.
- Loved how Bulldog screws around with the fans, this is the heel-ish acts we miss now, I saw a lot of videos for CM Punk during house shows pissing off fans and threatening them and he don't do it on RAW so I think it's a management instructions.
- The Rock had a great potentials since he was just a rookie, great performance from a guy that have less than a year of experience.

Nation of Domination Promo
- What the hell?! who are these skinny guys standing with Farooq and Crush?!

Undertaker VS Crush
- That undertaker attire was ugly.
- I know Crush had years of experience around this time but his performance is as ugly as The Great Khali, he couldn't do a single move correctly! just look at how he took the choke slam!!
- Undertaker tried his best to carry Crush but still it was a bad match.
- Loved the ending with Vader and Ahmed interference, it made me look forward for the Royal Rumble.

Overall
Average show specially as the last RAW before the Rumble (5.5/10)

Come on Issues, upload the Royal Rumble

I only found the the Bulldog vs. Maivia match to be good. I wasn't too impressed with the opening or last match, Sid's promo was great, Shawn's was good although he said a lot more than he needed to, everything else was alright.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Mr. JL (Nitro, 01/13/97)
This was alright, nothing special really. Chavo hits a nice crossbody and a moonsault but all of his other stuff just blends together. JL didn't get much a chance here, he has a nice Frankensteiner on him, but I couldn't notice anything else notable about him. I genuinely thought JL was long gone from WCW by this stage, you'd think that after a few years he might have a different costume of some sorts. He looked like a bigger Mysterio, too bad he didn't move like one. Commentary didn't care, this was merely a chance to promote the rest of the show to them. Props to JL for continuing after a hard bump to the head on the concrete.

Chris Jericho vs. Sgt. Craig Pittman (Nitro 01/13/97)
Squashhhh. Pittman doesn't even get a move in. Jericho hits some nice stuff, but finishing with a missile dropkick? Kinda lame. Jericho as a babyface wasn't working the best here for me, he just seemed really bland here. Not as bland as Pittman, but still, vanilla midget-ish.

Harlem Heat vs. High Voltage (Nitro 01/13/97)
HH were pretty over here, surprising. I don't even know who High Voltage are, never heard of the kids. Just as the match was starting to get some decent momentum, they cut to a scuffle between Giant and the nWo backstage, completely killing any interest in the match. It didn't matter anyway, when they returned to the match, things only lasted for a little while longer. HH finisher is called the 'Heatseeker', WCW IS SHOOTIN' BROTHA. Shitty enough match, nothing to it really, just a showcase for HH really, and I'm not a HH fan in the slightest so meh.

DDP vs. Mark Starr (Nitro 01/13/97)
This didn't even reach the minute mark, and I spend most of that minute wondering 'Who the hell is Mark Starr?'. Pretty much THE only move in the match, the Diamond Cutter, they manage to botch it. However, that's irrelevant. What's cool is the angle played out afterwards with DDP tricking the nWo and being the first WCW guy to get some cumuppance on them. THIS is probably the moment that properly got DDP over with the fans. There's only so many squashes and Diamond hand-signs he can throw, but this did wonders for the guy.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko (Nitro, 01/13/97)
This was excellent stuff. For once, not a squash or a rushed match! These two got plenty of time, well, 12 minutes which in Nitro terms is an eternity, and they make great use of all that time. There's never any sense that one guy has a distinct advantage over the other, but there's a nice little story going on that each guy is one-upping the other, causing them to break and rethink their strategy. Some nice matwork, submissions are given importance here. The finish wasn't shown thanks to the feed cutting out but the replay afterwards showed that Dean hit a powerbomb for the win. Syxx was sitting on a ladder in the crowd, probably about 100m away from the ring, AND HE DISTRACTS EDDIE leading to the loss. So, Malenko gets the win but it's not concise, I'm imagining this lead to their awesome match at Uncensored a few weeks later. Either way, refreshing.

Konnan vs. Super Calo (Nitro, 01/13/97)
This was fun is you don't look too deep into it. Sure, it's movesy, and it's a bunch of fun seeing Konnan getting his ass kicked for a little while but there's the large error of Calo completely no-selling a double powerbomb, he just pops right back up and hits a headscissors on Konnan. Speaking of Konnan, his finisher was actually pretty cool looking, a nasty snap suplex sorta thingy. Anywho, fun, forgettable, much like a one night stand, except this was a two minute stand.

The rest of the show is absolute dirt wrestling-wise so I'll just quickly summarise things. Jarrett/Benoit lasted 3 minutes and was a nothing match, literally nothing special here. The Horsemen are being broken apart by women, ugh. Riggs/Kidman was an average quick squash, same story with Luger/Fuller. Luger's really over though. Anderson/Steiner was going alright until Arn just walks out and accepts a countout which turns this match to shit. Giant/Hogan sucks, we only see the first minute as the rest of the match is shown during the commercial breaks of Robin Hood, yeahhhh, not so good. It's just a shorter version of their Souled Out match and just as shitty.

Have to be honest, this may seem petty, but after all of the time it takes me to do these threads (takes ages to upload them, then have them deleted etc), the fact someone who doesn't contribute has just moved it along and onto next week without me doing it makes me feel like its all for nought, and not really in the mood to do the next episodes.

Feel like I took so much time for this just for it to be ignored by someone to do the next one without my say, from the idea as well as me continuing to ask people what the best way was amd answering all questions, makes me not want to take so much time again.

It's not that I mind, I was just so frustrated uploading it all for someone who doesn't even contrIbute to it to post the next one ASAP when I'd spent a good portion of my time finding out the best way to do it.

Just a bit annoyed. If I post the next one it will be tomorrow night, on a Monday like we all discussed in the threads and took everyone's contributions to find the best way, althought I wouldn't be surprised now if it was just posted without my knowledge at any time.

Am I being petty here?

No not at all, I think that was a real dick move from the guy who posted the RR to just go ahead and do it without even asking you about it considering you were the one who came up with the idea and spent all the hard work trying to get it together. I know how you feel. I'd say keep uploading and if he does it again I'll keep reminding him to stop being such a dick and at least ask you about it.

I feel as though its a bit out of order.

yeah i totaly agree bit of a snidey move by posting the rumble without even asking if it was kool.

i think a lot of folks will be anoyed if this 1 dude has spoiled what could be a great great thing happening here, probaly 90% of members who liked this thread/idea have never seen every raw from 97/98/99 so i think its pretty selfish for some person kk to just start posting vids and fucking up the script

WCW Nitro January 13th 1997

Just some thoughts:

* Loved the opening with the Giant and the NWO backstage in the locker room. Had a very catching it as it happens in the moment type feel that was cutting edge at the time and I really enjoyed. Made it feel a lot realer.

* Opening match with Chavo and JL was a fun little spotfest opener. I enjoyed it for the time it got. Looking at Chavo then comparing to now just shows you how bad Chavo has gotten over the years.

* The Duggan interview calling out Sting and then Sting taking him out afterwards I thought was a really nice little segment on the show which gives us more questions about Sting's motivations. Larry's cries of the NWO getting to Sting and Sting being a coward I thought was really annoying but added to the feeling they were trying to show. I also found it refreshing Tony saying that WCW officials were trying to scramble together a new match to take its place which was a nice little touch and made it feel more in the moment. Though with WCW it might be literally scrambling.

* Jericho's match was a glorified squash, nothing more to say.

* Harlem Heat's match was alright I suppose, it really was just a nothing match to build them some more and showcase their talent.

* DDP's match was a squash but what happened after it is a moment that I remembered before it happened and still remember to this day. This to me was one of the iconic moments that happened in the NWO angle which signaled the first person to snub the NWO outright. This was superbly done and got a HUGE reaction from the crowd who popped big for DDP. This really elevated DDP into a player on the main event angle. This was a great moment.

* Malenko vs Guerrero was typical greatness from both of these men. Great TV match, really enjoyed this thing. The finish played really well into the Eddie/Syxx feud which the build has been simple yet effective. Really enjoyed this thing, great stuff.

* Konnan vs Super Calo was another nothing match, filler.

* Benoit vs Jarrett was a nothing match in terms of wrestling quality but did a lot angle wise and added a lot to the Horseman angle. Mongo hitting Benoit costing him the match and then promo segment after was really good. The dissension and heat between Mongo and Benoit was really good and Arn being conflicted playing peacemaker and not wanting to get involved in their personal issues. The women here only add to the tension here and Debra at this time plays a really good annoying little bratty bitch. The only heel on the program I'm genuinely pissed off at on the last two shows because of how fake she comes across and how condescending she sounds. Credit to her for being able to do that. Even with it being stated Flair wasn't there tonight because he was so upset about the whole thing was a really nice touch. Been really enjoying this Horseman angle the last couple of weeks.

* Next two matches were complete filler to make Riggs and Luger look good. Luger is terrible and has always been terrible to me but he is definitely really over here, no question about it.

* Giant delivers a pretty decent promo against Hogan in the ring, a lot of shouting however. You can tell that the Giant is still a little green here but he does a pretty good job overall.

* Rick Steiner vs Arn much like a lot of matches was really short but Arn did an excellent job selling and showing how unfocused he was. Calling out for the Horseman and worrying about them fighting backstage. Commentators also did well selling it and also giving the information that the Horseman were locked in their locker room arguing amongst each other. Did a good job showing where Arn's mindset was and plays into the storyline more.

* Scott Steiner rambling with long hair and no beard . Just sounds so hilarious he has the exact same voice but with his 1993 long haired look . Just hilarious.

* Giant vs Hogan essentially ended up being the same as last week with NWO and the Giant brawling which was disappointing. For a fan at that point it was probably exciting but seeing a similar ending with the Giant again was pretty disappointing for me. The announcers did a great job building up to the whole thing and then it ended up not really living up to standards.

Overall this was a pretty good Nitro, it had some great spots like more questions about Sting, DDP's snubbing of NWO, Malenko/Guerrero and the Horseman stuff. But it also had a lot of filler and the NWO stuff with the Giant at the end was disappointing.

Time to catch up on Raw.

Man! Don't even bother, it's a really horrible and disrespectful move by that guy and I think the solution is for you to coordinate with one of the admins to keep it organized.
By the way, I didn't even watch the RR On that thread and I am still demanding you to upload it for me and for the MILLIONS... I mean the 15 other guys who's also waiting

I am going to ignore that other thread.

Just put the RR in your regularly scheduled Monday thread and we can pretend this other dude's attempt to usurp you never happened.

The vast majority appreciate the work you've put into this project, Issues.
