Re: MONDAY NIGHT WARS CLUB: Monday January 13th 1997
Were they trying to make it out that Road Dogg was asking for HBK's autograph? Or was it simply Shawn signing the t-shirt and Road dogg being there?
King/HHH V Maro/Goldust: Crazy seeing Mero being a nice face and Sable being in his corner in their entrance. I pretty much forgot about that, I knew Mero was a face in WWF but didn't think it was in the Little Richard type. Amazed at how often they did the same spot were the heels went to hit the opponent being held by their partner and missed, I could 3 in the five minutes haha. Crazy ending as well.
Loved the empty arena Sid promo. The echo when he shouted was a great touch. The man was intense, no question.
Completely different, hated HBKs promo. He didn't really say anything but put himself over and talking smacking Sid in his teeth.
Austin attempting to break Bret's Ankle was great, just the way he zoned in was great. I remember this feud being great.
THE ROCK! Bret talking about Rocks potential was spot on.
Ahh, Sable and Mero were falling out already. That wasn't mentioned during the match they were featured in, wonder why that was? It seemed perfect to mention at that time rather than ignore them, just to talk about them later haha.
People complaining about wrestlers today need to take a look at The Rock. His character at this point was terrible. He was just smiley, and a nice guy. Obviously not ANYONE, but he could have been stuff with that gimmick and forgotten about, so I think if their given a chance a lot of the current roster can do a lot better than they are.
Hahah... Did anyone else noticed Clarence Mason helping Bulldog up the ramp, and then they go straight live to the Nation of Domination with Clarence Mason stood next to Faarooq? And then they go live to the bar where HBK is, and The Rock is there and alighted to by Vince already, although he should still be not only in the arena but had only finished his match 2 minutes ago? I suppose it's funny, but production like is crazy. If I noticed it, then it must have been noticed back then. If that was today it would be a massive joke.
Who thought the dreadlocks and fake tattoo on Crush made him look tough?
Haha... Imagine The Undertaker under the tutorship of The Honky Tonk man? I know they were trying to get it over he was looking for a protege, but as well as it getting annoying now, it's ridiculous.
Hahaha.. They brought up Vince saying Rocky was in two places at once. Schoolboy error.
Did Crush ever really spend time in jail? I seem to remember him getting into trouble to do with steroids, so I can't be sure they didn't use that as his gimmick on his return. How many wacky gimmicks did Crush have by the way? From Demolition with the face paint and masks, to Kona surf dude easy going blonde crush in bright pink and orange, to Japanese crush with black hair and face paint, to DOA Crush with dreadlocks and tattoo'd face evolving into Biker crush... Crazy decade for him, given the gimmick changes.
Undertaker/Crush is a snoozefest which had an awful chokeslam.
Didn't really enjoy Raw this week, nothing really happened for a go home show.
Working on getting Nitro sorted.
