Re: Greatest promotion of all time?

For me it goes likes this below

AWA 1985 - 1990
WCW 1991 - 1997
WWF 1998 - 2004
TNA 2005 - 2013

I love all four periods the same but as a wrestling fan for over 25 years I've never had more fun being a fan than I do today with TNA/Impact wrestling.

Wwf/e without a doubt...wcw and ecw both were awesome but not near the scale and neither would have the rich history

Re: Greatest promotion of all time?

WCW doesn't have the rich history?

You do know their lineage dates back to the NWA days, right? Which stretches back before WWE, right?

Re: Greatest promotion of all time?

WWE, in terms of historial significance, is probably the "conventional" answer, but my personal favorite was the original ECW. Their roster was incredibly strong, and was only made stronger by the fact that Heyman could make even the most mediocre guys look pretty damn good. If only Paul Heyman wasn't such a bad businessman... Original ECW with a higher production budget would've been a sight.

Talent/charisma draws. Not size.

Its WWE. No brainer there

Everyone's a cynic, no-one will enjoy wrestling, they're too busy
pointing out what "sucks".

Re: Greatest promotion of all time?

WWE 1987-1999

A few of those years were rough obviously in the mid 90s but the Golden Era and the attitude Era were the best. The characters that were created in the Golden era were seriously GOLDEN. Hogan, Warrior, Macho Man, Steamboat, Perfect, Hart Foundation, Rude, Piper, Rockers, Demolition, Undertaker, Jake the Snake Roberts, Million Dollar Man, Brutus the Barber Beefcake, Haku, Barbarian, Davey Boy Smith, Blue Blazer, British Bulldogs, LOD. The list goes on and on and almost every character was DIFFERENT! WWE's theme music in the Golden Era was just incredible as well. So many different great themes even though some were similar like Rockers and Ultimate Warrior themes. You just can't beat Hogan's intro music in my opinion. Same thing goes for Bret Hart's music. Owen Hart's music for example was similar to Bret's but it was still different. I don't know who was making all these Wrestler's themes but they REALLY knew what they were doing. Commentary from Golden Era cannot be beat either.

Oh and I can't forget about the costumes from the Golden Era of WWE. WWE easily made the best costumes. HBK's costume after he left the Rockers for example was just the best. Then even has he proceeded to become face his pants were always different and real cool looking. Also as I mentioned earlier they are all different in color especially. WWE did a great job at mixing up costumes I can't stress that enough.

What WCW had going on during the Attitude Era was pretty impressive as well. The dark feel of their show, mixed in with great story lines and even better monday night cards really was great.

Where can I watch ECW matches?
