What was so special about Sting?

I watched all the Wcw nitros back then. He was the guy who single handed took out the Nwo. Then they wanted him to join nwo and eventually he joined the nwo wolfpack. His presence was obviously great. I did get to watch sting before the nwo came and how he had the all american look etc.

But whats the big deal about this guy. Look at his 2 finishers. Scorpion Death Lock which is the same thing as s sharpshooter. And then scorpion death drop which is a reverse ddt. Hogan had one of the worst finishers ever with the big leg drop but to me, sting had one of the worst 2 finishers ever.

Yea he had the stinger splash which i thought was a joke. Yes he was a good wrestler but his finishers were just mere copycats.

Re: What was so special about Sting?

Excuse me. Did you just call the sharpshooter one of the worst finishers ever?

always thought he was overrated, pretty good in ring worker, but I had a problem with the way he talked..... his character and his voice didn't go well at all.

Also him soon that stupid scream was lame as fuck too

Top 10 all time favorites:

Stone Cold Steve Austin
The Undertaker
Shawn Michaels
Chris Jericho
Brock Lesnar
Kurt Angle
HHH
Edge
CM Punk
Kane (98-04)

Re: What was so special about Sting?

in 1997 Sting was the biggest wrestler in the world for a year. Just think about CM Punk who was the biggest wrestler in the world for maybe a month in 2011 and look how many fanboys he got from that. Take that times 12 and you get an idea of Sting's popularity in 1997.

This has got to be the first time I have ever read Sharpshooter and worst finisher in the same post. Wow!

Sting was just awesome! His look, presence, attitude, in-ring ability. Almost every single person who grew up watching wrestling in the 90s loved Sting! To me WWF had Bret, WCW had Sting! To this day Sting is an icon and a legend without WWE which is an accomplishment in itself! Also, you have to remember maybe now with the advancement of finishers the Deathlock, Deathdrop and Stinger Splash may look weak...but then they were pretty sick! The names were badass too so that helped Just my opinion being a lifelong Sting fan

I am stunned and appalled.

For the record, I always preferred the name 'Scorpion Death Lock' to 'Sharpshooter'. Sharpshooter sounds more classy, but SDL just sounds badass.

Sting was one of the original anti-heroes. Paved the way for Austin.
