Hogan gets a bad rap for being a shitty wrestler but I think thats undeserving. He had good matches with Flair, Warrior, Bockwinkel, Hennig, Orndorff, The Rock, Hansen, Muta, Inoki, Andre, Savage, HBK, etc. I think Hogans rep is bad for three reasons.
1. Vern told Hogan to never go down to a knee during a match - so Hogan no sold a ton of moves.
2. Later in his career his matches followed the same formula Hulk-up, you, comeback, leg drop win. But this formula captivated the audience and the fans chanted with Hogan.
3. His opponents were usually big lumbering monsters Zeus, Bundy, Killer Kahn, One Man Gang, Etc.

He was carried in every good match he ever had. Go watch his match with Savage at Mania 5 and see what I mean. Even Andre carried him at WM 3 and he could barely move.
