Here is an ancient mystery I never understood. If anyone recalls the In Your House: Degeneration-X PPV in Dec 1997, HBK defeated Ken Shamrock, and out of nowhere, Owen Hart returned (he had been absent, following the Montreal Screwjob), and attacked Michaels. If anyone can find footage/clips of this attack, which happened after the match, and took the PPV home, I seem to recall Owen pummeling Michaels from outside the ring, and from what I remember, digging his fingers and nails into HBKs face, to the point of drawing legit blood.
I was 16 when this happened, but remember watching on PPV, and cant seem to find the footage. My question is - does anyone else recall this incident, and do you think Owen was shooting on Michaels?
Also, why didnt WWE capitalize and have an Owen/HBK feud? I remember they went back to HBK/Taker, and right into HBK/Austin for WMania 14. Seems like Royal Rumble 98 could have easily been Michaels/Owen for the WWF Title, and would have been an excellent feud for Michaels after dropping the belt to Austin. (Assuming HBK never ruined his back and retired)...
EDIT: Found the video. 6:20. Owen is going hard on Michaels...
Well, I would say first it was set out as a complete work, it went how it was meant to and that was that. However, who would have blamed Owen for being stiff and getting a few good shots in where he can?
I remember watching this thinking it was wild. I think that could have been a great moment, but nothing really came of it. Didn't Owen then work with HHH?

Yeah, they palmed his feud off to HHH.
It certainly looked like he was being stiff as Hell... but then given the nature of the segment that might have been what they agreed on. He's in street clothes doing a random attack on the guy that conspired against his Brother, hasn't been seen since it happened - they obviously wanted the real animosity to flow into the moment.
Question is, did they abandon an Owen-HBK feud because they weren't happy with his reactions... OR, did Owen really take liberties here causing HBK to squash him out of the opportunity (as he could so easily do with his influence).
Who knows tbh, not something that's widely talked about in relation to the whole screwjob incident.
It was a worked shoot. They simply tried to get the attack over as real as possible. After that it became a regular wrestling angle and Owens heat cooled off.
After a few weeks, Owen got his title shot against HBK on Raw, got screwed out of it by HHH setting up their feud as HBK was set to face Taker at Royal Rumble.
