St. Valentines Day Massacre

At the PPV they announced Road Dogg was (kayfabe) injured and that he had to forfeit the Hardcore Title. Why was this done? They never followed up on that angle so what was the deal there? Anybody remember?

Re: St. Valentines Day Massacre

Wasn't it merely done to allow for Road Dogg to pursue the Intercontinental Title (which he picked up the following month) without having to "lose" his title and thus squashing any believability going forward?

Re: St. Valentines Day Massacre

Possible. But at the PPV, Billy Gunn was still involved in the IC title scene and they were obviously heading towards Gunn vs Shamrock vs Venis for the belt at Mania.
