I would say the rock - although not really remembered by newer fans for his n.o.d time -- was the best...

Would have to be Rocky as he was a damn good heel during the early stages of 1998. Always had a soft spot for D'Lo too.

Wait a minute...

I approached this as who was most important to the Nation group and what their contributions were to the faction.

1. The Rock- just starting to emerge and perfect his persona
2. Faarooq- was the driving force behind the group and handled a lot of the early mic time
3. D'Lo Brown- early loyalist but really started to find his own character under the Rock
4. Owen Hart- brought a different angle but never really seemed to fit in
5. Ahmed Johnson- a shame about the injuries because the turn could have been more if handled better

The rest can get throw in a bag and picked out at any order and I would be okay with whatever order came out. Mainly just a lot of hired muscle.

Never really understood why they had Owen Hart join the Nation. I understand the Owen face run at the beginning of 1998 was a disaster but turning him heel by joining an all-black group was strange.

Looking back I guess they wanted to push the Nation to the next level and it worked out for them thanks to the feud with D-Generation X (which may have been a result of long term thinking thanks to the Owen-Triple H rivalry). Well, everyone except Owen, who was just left floundering in rubbish feuds with Dan Severn and Steve Blackman.
