Default Things Nitro did better than Raw during the Monday Night Wars

It seems at every angle I see, Raw always had it better: better wrestlers, better storylines, better stage, better booking, better management, etc. Despite nWo's incredible drawing ability, most people argue that WCW's upside was that they only had bigger stars.

But I can't help to think there were trade secrets that made Nitro click. This is why some people think WCW's branding seem "cooler" though weaker in entertainment value compared to WWF.

I can only point our their impressive Cruiserweight Division which remained consistently entertaining until 2001, unlike the World Title scene in 2000.

I also applaud their overhyping overselling commentary. A bit over-the-top but the team of Schiavone, Tenay and the gang could sell almost any match.

Pageantry. Having Michael Buffer bring your guys to the ring is about as epic as it can get.

A couple things off the top of my head:

1. Had a lot less jobbers.
2. It can be argued it had "bigger" matches on free tv.

Most aspects of the tv-production was better and more professional, the stage looked better, the ring looked better, some entrances (like Goldbergs) were heavily choreographed, you touched on the commentary.

WCW were first with some things:
The black and white clips of nWo, the evil general manager,

One example of something I could never see on Raw was Sting's crow debut. nWo comes out to celebrate their birthday and cut intentionally horrendous promos, the lights go off and on, the nWo are shocked, the camera zooms in on Sting standing at the top of the arena.

Shock value and Nitro in the beginning had a better presentation than Raw. Watch the first episode of Nitro and compare it to any Raw episode in 1995 and you will see a major difference.

Cruiserweights. They also revolutionized television wrestling.
