Goldberg's 173-0 was an unprecedented feat. There is a 99.9% chance that we will never see anything like it again.

We all knew the streak had to end, but most agree that WCW botched it. Kevin Nash doing it was unsatisfying.

How should it have ended?

I would have had Booker T end it. He used to get huge reactions each week, and a win over Goldberg would have solidified him as a major name.

WCW saw the value of a Booker T win over Goldberg. They gave Booker a clean win during one of their matches (the only match where Goldberg lost clean).

Sting was my favourite in WCW so I always wanted him to end it. But you're right, Booker ending it would have given him huge hype.

They should have had Hogan win dirty in the Georgia Dome match. Then they could have had the rematch in a PPV and popped a HUGE buyrate because everybody would want to pay to see Hogan finnally get's his ass kicked by Goldberg.

But unfortunately Bischoff cared more about ratings than money.

Right place? Yes break the streak at Starrcade.
Right opponent? Not unless they had a killer angle planned out with Goldberg going through nWo one by one.
Right ending? Hell no. It felt like another episode of Nitro and not like the pinnacle of the year.
Right time? No they should've milked Goldbergs angle until the tv-ratings started to go down again. Keep the belt on Goldberg until the ratings go down.

The right guy ended The Streak.

IMO, streaks like that only serve a purpose when it's used to either further an angle or build up a star. Lot of WCW guys were pretty up in age by that point and I like to think that the 2 weeks following Starrcade 1998 wasn't what Nash had in mind.

But, I still feel in hindsight that the right guy ended it. Only guys, who by December 1998 should have accomplished that was DDP. But, I'm assuming along with that came the prospect of turning either DDP or Goldberg heel, which wouldn't have been wise. Turning a guy like Nash heel had more potential benefit, until Terry used his stroke to fuck it all up.

Just as it did....by Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall with the taser made it better.

They were 2 of my top favorites since I've been a fan of wrestling, but I got sick of Goldberg way before the streak even ended.
