Just seen a couple of clips of this, i think it was back in 97 or 98. It may be a stupid question because everything in wrestling has suspicion of being a work, but was WWF Brawl for All legit? I haven't seen enough to work it out. How did it work? Was it just odd matches or a division of sort? I saw a clip of Bradshaw fighting someone, did they bring in fighters or did they all involve wrestlers from the roster?
I am surprised i have never come across this before, seems like a big risk for a wrestling company to take if it was legit fighting. I assume it wasn't a success in the end.

It was legit and it was fucking stupid. A brainchild of the retard Vince Russo. People got hurt for real, especially Dr Death (who was expected to win the thing until Bart Gunn knocked him the fuck out). Shamrock and Severn (MMA guys if you didn't know) were told they couldn't be a part of it, then they let Severn compete in one match and made him pull out the next week because the plan was for Dr Death to win and get a big push out of it (winner got a title match with Austin. Then Bart won and didn't get fuck all until WM the next year where Butterbean knocked him out). They didn't bring anyone in for it, just guys on the roster who volunteered for it I believe.
Brawl For All was a revolutionary idea, with terrible execution. Guys got injured and nobody gained anything at all from it, in fact the winner of the competition was actually punished. Imagine the push Bart Gunn could have got, out of that. Instead they fed him to Butterbean and then fired him...great.
The Brawl For All was a terrible idea. As has been stated before me, loads of guys got injured and the guy who managed to win the whole thing got treated like dirt. Plus, from the very first match, the audience hated it.

Russo had nothing to do with it. Even Jim Cornette who would blame Russo for anything that's bad said that it was McMahon's fault

Wrestling fans don't go to wrestling shows to see boxing. Simple as that.
Its not fair to call that shit boxing. Boxing is the sweet science, this shit were like schoolyard brawls. It was embarrassing...Bart Gunn being PUNISHED for WINNING made it even worse, him getting KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT by Butterbean at Wrestlemania 15 puts it on the Wrestlecrap listing. .
Its crazy Dr. Death was supposed to be pushed using this idea and I don't even think he was over at the time and he lost in the FIRST round. It was all bad...
