This is a must if you were in the chatbox tonight. Sticky plz.
Discuss all of the goodness of World Championship Wrestling that came from the moment Vince Russo came in from latter 1999, 2000, and the final months of 2001.
Just indicates he has a lot of friends and thus can get some cool names on the air. The Jericho one is by far the best so far though. When they don't have a guest they go through fan questions etc, it's cool shit. Just listen to it Not a fan of Chavo either, what a boring person.
There's a thread going round in the WWE section where guys are planning to go through episodes of Raw each week and re-live the action and have a discussion about what's gone on in the shows they're watching that week.
Is there any interest in doing a WCW version? Starting back with the first Nitro and watching each show in real time (1 Nitro per week) and then having a discussion each week about the shows?
If anyone can put up old nitro's especially from scott halls 1st appearance id be very interested in watching them. not too keep on WCW 94 though the YET-TAYYY and the Shockmaster etc.. are not things that need to be relived at any time
Certainly I'd be down for a scenario like that. Most of the early one hour episodes are up on Dailymotion in full. Downloading can assist here too. If this snowballs it could be quite a bit of fun. Good idea. (Y)
Diamond Dallas Page gave me two of my favorite WCW matches ever: Vs. Sting on Nitro in March and against Goldberg at Halloween Havoc. Coincidentally, both took place in 1998.
Just popping it in here, too. I've started a thread that will include an episode of Nitro each week head to head with an episode of Raw in sort of a book club deal. It's here: http://www.wrestlingforum.com/class...b-monday-january-6th-1997-a.html#post15197898 if anyone would like to come and watch and discuss Nitros from that time.
I never had much interest in 2001, tbh. Most likely because of the atmosphere, you could literally feel that it was reaching that final nail in the coffin.

The last three PPVs are solid, but they had driven away so many fans by January 2000. In just 14 months the following dissappeared from WCW programming: Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, Saturn, Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, Raven, Scott Hall, Juvuntud Guerrera, Steven Regal, Hulk Hogan, Curt Hennig, Macho Man and the majority of the lucha guys. Even Sting was not there for the last 5 or 6 months.
Then you had the stuff with WCW becoming Attitude esque under Russo, then old school under Sullivan, then Attitude again for six months, then changed again under Johnny Ace. The Stacey Kiebler pregnancy angle being dropped. Customer confidence was dead by the end.
I'll actually attribute the pregnancy angle being dropped as a positive - More of less. It brought forth the DNA match. The gimmick of gimmicks from 2000.
Another talent that WCW wasted. Vampiro was talented in the ring and always performed to a good standard on the microphone. When he was given the chance he put on some good matches but never got the opportunity to go any further than the mid card.
Vampiro was used in solid fashion I'd say. Defeated Sting on PPV. Took him off TV for nearly two months to be exact. Only reason his push seemed to stop in the latter portion of 2000 is b/c he got injured.
It's still crazy to think that in early 1998, WCW was the number one wrestling promotion in the world, and out of business three years later. How does this compare to other major, long tenured companies folding quickly?
Was part of the feud between The Rhodes Family & Flair during the final months of WCW. Leading into the tag match (Jarrett as Flair's partner) for Greed. Wait, maybe it followed the tag actually. Either way, there is your answer.
He embarrassed Flair by making him kiss the ass of an ass. Fit the downhome nature of Dusty getting back at Flair one last time before the company folded.
I was going to ask whose ass is that? Now I get it. Thx
Pretty lame
