Default What years are considered the Attitude Era?

I just picked up the great Attitude Era DVD today and I noticed that there isn't any content at all from 2001. It's just from late 1997-2000 and the story ends when WCW is purchased.

So does WWE not consider 2001 the attitude era? I always considered the Attitude Era 1997-2002 and it ended when the brand extension happened.

Also I HIGHLY recommend that DVD. It has ZERO blurs of the WWF logo and doesn't censor someone saying WWF. It's almost surreal to watch as someone who has a heap of DVDs that blur everything to do with WWF.

Depends, the merger was huge and imo helped and prolonged the Attitude Era. I feel it was waning until it was gon in 04/05 (memory is fuzzy its 8 years ago now). I feel the WWE tried moving in the direction to keep it going but they botched some stuff and then the Linda years happened.

It's WM 14-WM 17.

Every other answer is wrong. The attitude era ended when top face with attitude Steve Austin turned heel.

I've never considered 2001 post-WrestleMania X-Seven to be apart of the Attitude Era. That was a year when WCW went out of business and the WWF had already taken over the Monday Night Wars. Plus, the WWF shows/PPVs weren't as edgy as it was in 1999-2000. They were still exciting to watch and had a few controversial storylines here and there but not as much compared to the years of 1997-2000. The Attitude Era was completely pointless once they won the ratings war.

I'm gonna say 1997-2002. 2002 had the brand extension, and Austin started wrestling part-time.

It went on through 2002 imo. I'm pretty sure they were still marketing the whole "attitude" thing until the world wildlife foundation deal in mid 2002, when they started marketing it as "entertainment" instead.

The attitude era ended to me when WWF changed to WWE. I don't think it ended on the day WCW was purchased, or the day Steve Austin sold out to McMahon like some claim (especially not that).

I'm going to assume it ended when WWF stopped marketing it's product as "attitude" and started marketing it as "entertainment". Seems like the best point of reference imo.

1997 - 2002 (when they got the 'F' out...)

Entertainment meant the end of Attitude.
