Re: Eric Bischoff almost put the WWF out of the business

really in my mind the McMahon-Austin feud was the turning point in the war, and also when Foley was thrown off the stage somebody said that Kevin Sullivan who was the booker for wcw at the time said wwe just won the war

favs: DB, austin aries, AJ styles, balor, owens, zayn, Wyatt, ambrose, rollins

When one of the your B ppvs outsells the other promotions Top PPV of the year, victory looks inevitable. Luckily, Bret and Austin set the course for the next two years with perfect execution of the double turn.
These things get clown out of proportion in all these narratives.

Except for one year WWF always had better ppv business than WCW, from what I could/can tell they always had better gates at raw shows and ppvs. That should mean WWF always had a great house show business even at their lowest point. I mean even if WWF had lost their tv-slot due to bad ratings I'm convinced that Vince could have brokered other deals. Investors would not turn their back on a promotion that can sell out 18 000 arenas in major cities across the country (and Canada). Hell if he had to Vince could have paid for a tv-slot and get Raw on tv that way.

The point is that there was no way WWF would go out of business in a matter of 5 years like Bischoff thought. It would take maybe 10 or 15 years.

And they just decided to blow it right then and there.
Most likely, it sounds like Tony Schiavone.

Re: Eric Bischoff almost put the WWF out of the business

Ted Turner was very supportive of WCW and Eric Bischoff's plans, though through various mergers and realignment of executive authority within WCW's parent group, Bischoff and WCW in general gradually lost support despite having much potential. Eric has said in numerous interviews that without Ted calling the shots, nobody really seemed that interested in holding a wrestling program to begin with.
