Greg Gagne vs. Larry Zbyszko. That'll put butts in seats in 1991.

There was no saving after Hogan left even though they stayed in business another 7 years. It was doomed once McMahon grabbed Hogan, and took over the world.

I would have advised Verne to sell to Ted Turner in 1990 so that the AWA could then merge with WCW. That was the best bet IMO.

Verne didn't just want a cut of Hogan's Japanese money he wanted half of it. He also wanted 100% of Hogan's future merchandise sales (he already sold a ton of Hogan shirts while Hogan was in Japan) as well as wanting Hogan to marry one of Verne's daughters to keep him trapped in the territory if he was ever going to put the belt on Hogan which he didn't want to do to begin with.

The AWA were completely dead by the mid 80's and would of died alot sooner had cable TV came around earlier. The only good business decision that Verne made after Hogan left was hiring Eric Bischoff since we all know what that lead to right?

Doubt the AWA in 1991 had a $ 2 million budget, let alone a $20 million budget
